Is There Such Thing Like Good Doctors And Bad Doctors Today? |
|
Weren't medical practitioners suppose to be qualified before they are allowed to practice?
Yet, today we are still hearing news of how malpractices are still rampant and sadly it has claimed another life. A 5 year old boy has passed away due to an unattended Chickenpox case and all thanks to another incompetent and negligent doctor!
Just when is this going to stop? Are the relevant authorities sleeping? Are the medical schools passing out unqualified medical students?

I can understand what your sister and family had gone through, the anxieties and the close shave with death.
Yet, I do not know what is with these errant doctors today. Are they ill qualified for the job? Are they very distracted from their duties?
Don't they know that their negligence and ignorance can cost lives? Have they no regards to the fragility of life?

2. cwong77 (1168) | 3 months ago | doctors, are suppose to be the one that helps and cure patients that in pain.. however to my horror, I do find lots of doctor that lack of medical knowledge and also bugging for money only.
I only keep my tab on a few doctors, and not many of them I entrusted.. If any doctor were to come and tell me or my family members to enter the operating theater, and go under the knife, I sure get back to these bunch of doctors which I have faith in.. no matter who.. I will go and ask my 'trusted' doctor..
I have bad experience with doctors who are money minded.. and this happen in my own life.. which my auntie who is doing well, has to undergo a very very difficult chemo when it's no longer necessary.. this will just increase her suffer of pain than making her well! therefore, I would not want to trust any doctor that just come along the line..
and look at the report.. chickenpox has been so common, and yet the doctor can do mistake just like this.. sign sigh..

4. andalond (3388) | 3 months ago | Well I was reading the story to find out exactly how chickenpox turned deadly. Ok why did the mom and dad just continue relaying messages through the receptionist? Why didn't she just go in the office to show the doctor himself about what was happening. At that moment that the child would have come in they would have taken him into a room to avoid it from spreading. It is hard to really know if the doctor was relayed all the information. I just think both sides are at fault. I know sometimes parents overeact about their childrens conditions. I remember one time my son had diarrhea so bad that after the 3rd day he didn't want to drink water anymore because everything went through his body. I also saw that he now had blood in his stool. I immediately took him to the emergency room. Diarrhea is normal but when the kids stop taking fluids and have blood in the stool it's gone to another level. Now if the mom saw pus coming out of her childs skin then forget the doctor or the receptionist take the child to the hospital.

andalond (3388) | 3 months ago | Well they passed all their exams and the board... so maybe to me it means personal negligence? I know the doctor's staff should not be giving any kind of medical advice or suggestions as to what they think the parent should do. Maybe the doctor is overloaded with patients that he/she thought this one was worth telling to just stick it out? Mainly I would say negligence.

5. ilyzium (408) | 3 months ago | Yes there most definitely are good and bad doctors today because I've had both positive and negative experiences with them. Personally, I actually don't find most doctors today to be very good, which is why I prefer Eastern medicine and go to a Naturalpath. Several years ago I had a series of symptoms, tried a number of doctors, all of them were unable to help me and told me that my symptoms were as a result of getting older. I finally made the connection and found an excellent Naturopathic Doctor who's been able to treat me successfully. In Canada where I live we're going through a healthcare crisis at the moment, and many thing are no longer covered under the current healthcare system. Also, quite often I have to wait about 2 hrs in my Doctor's office, that's how busy it is.

ilyzium (408) | 3 months ago | I know it's absolutely ridiculous isn't it. I just want to clarify that it's not like that in all of Canada, just in the province of BC where I live. We've been going through this health care crisis for quite some time, I feel because we have a corrupt govt that's made so many cutbacks in the health care industry, as well as education as well. Doctors & Nurses are incredibly overworked, underpaid which is why many chose to go to work in the US. There is also a Nursing shortage as well. Because there is a shortage of Doctors out there, Doctor's complain of being overworked, walk in clinics are overbooked, many Doctors are no longer accepting new patients, and I read somewhere that 1/4 people do not have a regular family Doctor. Yes, it is a disgrace brought on by our govt that would rather spend the extra money in our upcoming Olympics. How I detest politicians....

6. Trensue (1223) | 3 months ago | There are doctors that I like and others that I don't. I am guessing for me it has more to do with bedside manner than the true ability of the doctor. I do see a medical practitioner who I find very comforting and competent. I suppose like all people there are good and bad.

skysuccess (2274) | 3 months ago | Misterwit,
Sad, isn't it?
These medical practitioners who have received so much education and examinations to actually become qualified healers. But, it has turned out otherwise and I am just left to wonder where did it fail for such tragedies to happen.
Is getting qualified doctors a dicey affair today?
I hate to wonder.

8. Graceekwenx (537) | 3 months ago | Yes. there is such thing as good and bad doctors today. There are many incidents also that patients does not specify the actual pain and complaint thus leading the doctors somewhere else on the diagnosis. In cases like these, it would always be better to undergo laboratory exams that would help assist doctors on their assessment.
I do agree that some doctors really are capitalists. They would charge exorbitant consultation fees because they have a bond with the hospital and that they need to break even.
And since we are talking about health here, i would prefer that doctors give their cell phone numbers away to their patients so just in case their patients have an attack of something, their doctors would just be a call away. Privacy may be disturbed, but hey... these are doctors... shouldnt they care how their patients are doing?

9. JDy116 (1444) | 3 months ago | Even if they pass, I think it depends on the person. There are really good and not so good people. Good doctors are committed to their job and would go an extra mile to help patient. I have seen unhelpful doctors and doctors that are less emphatic. Maybe they should not took that field if they are entrepreneurs. Some doctors can't help and would recommend you treatment and tests you don't really need either because they are less than excellent doctors, and in the core, the answer is because they should have been employed elsewhere because they just want money or income from medical profession.
