Dear lolter We all are know that the present situation is totally different from earlier. Presently we all have to contribute some thing to save power for our next generation. Honestly share your views that how many of us are trying to save electricity. Are we follow the same 1.Switch off lights and fans when not required.2.De-dust lighting fixtures to maintain illumination.3.Select iron boxes with automatic temperature cutoff.4.Replace conventional regulators with electronic regulators for ceiling fans. There are many more

Though he got money and facilities to draw power to his house, even now he uses candle lights during nights, during full moon day he wont even use candles. I also contribute to save the energy by using only tubelights.

3. clickicy (461) | 3 months ago | I don't know how much i can contribute to my country in reducing power use. I use a little electrical device that use huge amount of energy - refrigerator, small tv and pc. I use my pc to earn money - so i cant really helpfull here. A refrigerator that I have is small - one door type. my wife spend a little amount of time in front of tv as our daughter love to play outdoor rather watching tv. A lamp may be - i use small 8 Watt in 5 slot soo its 40watt power usage if all is on - at night only a front door light is on... I dont know if I have participate in energy saving that way.

4. dragon54u (9400) | 3 months ago | I'm concerned with saving money right now so I do all I can to avoid paying more than I should in electricity.
One thing that reduced my bill by $40 is unplugging everything when I'm not using it. Lamps, the toaster, the microwave, telephone extensions, the second computer, etc. You won't believe how much that saves! When something is plugged in it draws current whether it's turned on or not. So unplug everything that is not in use--you'll save money and conserve energy!

5. tintukm (453) | 3 months ago | Power is always needed by human race to keep on progressing and we as normal usually need them for our daily needs. Its been some kind of an harassment when the electricity gets cut off.We also have the need to conserve it,even if we pay bills for the power we use,in terms of light,water,etc,... There are so many good points you mention. Our computers can have an LCD screen for less power consumption,we can use bicycles to go to near by places that also makes us healthy, the leaking taps can be also closed for less consumption of electricity in pumping motors, well only talking in terms of electric power one mustn't go for high power rated electronic goods like woofers of speakers, heating goods, but until they get an better replacement it will surely continue.

| 7. ElyseR (20) | 3 months ago | We do conserve energy at our house. As a matter of fact, I am one of those rare birs who doesn't keep my computer plugged in at all hours. If I am not going to be on it, it's off. I can't see any reason to use electricity on something I'm not making use of.
We also hang a lot of our laundry. We have a clothesline out in back and a collapsible drying rack in the laundry room. I am glad you pointed out some of the ideas. We had PG&E come around last year and replace a lot of lightbulbs and fix what needed fixing as part of a special program to conserve.

8. stealthy (2844) | 3 months ago | I freeze in the Winter and burn up in the Summer to save energy and money. I also recycle even though I have to cart it somewhere because there is not curbside recycling where I live. I work at home and thus drive less than 3,000 miles a year since I only go out when necessary.

9. jonjee0203 (1624) | 3 months ago | I have been a thrifty nifty user of power. I have used very little. In our house, we do not switch on the air-conditioners. Yes, we dust off light housings to help illumination. Your suggestions are good. However, not many people in Malaysia do this, Except for Earth day which they took a token role, most Malaysian are great users of power. This is a sad fact that they say is difficult to wean off.

10. cupkitties (546) | 3 months ago | Best as I can. I turn off all lights from the room before I leave them unless someone else is there, keep track of the amount of time I'm in a shower of bath, when brushing teeth only have the water on to rinse or have a cup already filled (some people leave the water on the whole time). Also unplugging things that are not in use. I did not know before that even if you have them turned off they are still drawing power. If only I could get over my little fear at night I could also turn off my tv or radio but I have to have those or I can't sleep at all:S
