Wow, that is beautiful. My mother is still living but I call her randomly to thank her for all the things she has done for me over the years. The love a mother gives a child truely is amazing! I am sure your mother smiles down on you each and every day:)

Other than "dang it mom, I wish you had taken better care of yourself"?

I have a lot of questions about family members that didn't come up until after she was gone. And lost of other things...

I would like to also thank my mom she passed over 3 years ago. I so wish she would have been able to quit smoking she passed from lung cancer. Im sure she is watching me today as a NON SMOKER and is very proud of me. I also want to say im so sorry i wasnt there when she was suffering so much from cancer. I just had my own selfish way of dealing with death i guess, no it isnt good but that the way i dealt with it, im so sorry mom. Dad im so sorry too!! I love you both and I will see you when i come over to the other side.

Hi there my friend. I'm so glad you had a Mom like that. My Mom didn't have the time to teach me much. As she worked 40 hours or more a week. And then there were times she didn't have the patince to teach me anything. My grandmother taught me how to crochet and my Mom did try to teach me how to sew I hated it. But I love my Mom I just wish now she would talk to me about her needs instead of that so called friend that wants to buy her house and land. Oh I'm sad about that as I did try to talk to her and she said why is everone having a fit about whom I sell my land to. So now I just don't try. My Father was alway's there for me always trying to help. He was a very loving Father and I miss him so much. You have a great day. Your friend onlydia

What a great post. You brought tears to my eyes. You sure must have had an amazing mom. I envy this kind of relationship between a mom and daughter. As I sit here with a blank mind, can't think of anything I didn't say to my mom that I didn't say during her long life. I appreciated the early years when my parents adopted me. I appreciated her later years as she began to age. The years in between weren't good. Left me with scars on my heart but I've moved on with my life. My mother could do anything domestic. I can't. Just not talented in that department.

Thanks for this post, Jill. You have certainly touched me with this discussion and suddenly I remember the days that I took my mom for granted. Like when she wanted to go out and have a shopping spree and I was too sleepy to accompany her, or when she cooked something a bit salty and I would ask her why was it salty. Me and my big mouth and I should have just kept quiet. I am going to appreciate my mom more from now on. You love your mom so much and you are such a filial and good daughter. I'm sure your children will feel the same compassion you have for your late mom too. Take care..

You certainlty lucked out Jill. I would have asked my mother why she did not love me in spite of my resembling my father. Why that was held against me. Why she never once visited my school - even not taking me to school on my first scary day.

Why she would not get a hearing aid because she was too vain and put her vanity first over hearing me speak. I was brought up in silence until my older sisters came home for school. I would ask her why, not even once, did we go anywhere as a family.

I would ask her why she would leave me alone in the house from as young as four years old while she went out dancing at night. Why she did not take me to Church - even once - as a family but insisted that we went to Church.

I look at my only baby photo (just one) and see a beautiful baby with large dark eyes and dark curly hair and wonder how she could not have loved this beautiful child.

I would ask her why she abused me and destroyed my self esteem so much that it is only now that I can see what a beautiful young person I was. I always thought that I was ugly.

Then I would tell her that this is why she never, not once, had my children on holiday without my presence. Not once as I was scared that she would abuse them the same way that I was horrifically abused. Treasure the memories of your mother Jill. She must have been one in a million.

Jill, u are very lucky to have had a mother like that, i didn't. Mine probably wouldn't want to hear what i'd say to her if she were still living. I know that must sound ugly to u but it's a very, very long story. I'm so glad u had a good one & that u have so many wonderful memories.

Oh how i can relate to this too my mother has been gone for 23 years now and it seems just like yesterday. What I would give to have her back, to be able to see her grandchildren. Miss Ya Mom i shoulda listened more when you was tryin to teach me but i was a young dumb teenager:(
