Does anyone pay any attention to the time zones of their MyLot friends?

Well so far it is dark and cold here but we will see what the morning brings.

The thing I now understand is how far behind the US is to the UK which explains why I am always up until 5am

You all get home from your jobs and then, in general, use the internet in the evening until you go to bed.
Midnight with you is 6am with me which for some reason I hadn't grasped.
I really notice when the US is awake as the site slows down and also my friends are about

Measurements in the UK are a real mixed bag as we use a mixture of imperial and metric.

The rest of the EU use km,litres,m/cm/mm etc etc whilst we use gallons and litres miles and kilometres and metres as well as feet. Very hard to understand sometimes.

I always forget to add the 32 when I multiply a Celsius temp by 1.8 to get the Fahrenheit reading...

I am trying to get my head round the differences in the US time zones but it will take some doing

Of the US members Lambchop is the only one fully functioning on MST although he does have periods of normality whereas I seem permanently stuck in MST despite my best efforts to retrain my body clock.
More UK members would be good as only the lady from the wonderland up north of me seems anywhere near MST!!!!

Actually you seem to be around an awful lot so be careful you aren't permanently stuck in our time zone

I'm getting all mixed up with times but think you are in the West US so it is either 7 or 8 hours behind as it is 12:51am here and late afternoon with you.

To be honest I never pay attention on the time zone of any member. Maybe because the two countries I have lived and now live both just have one time zone. The UK has the summer time so sometimes I pay attention on it.
I also never realized the US has 9 time zones. How complicated life the American people have. Now I found a new way to learn from mylot and its amazing members.Thank you very much and happy mylotting .

There are only four in the conyinental US as Lamb explains below.
The others are used in US territories not in the actual US.

Okay, I was just at the same place...but if you actually look, there are only 4 in use at a time in the continental US.

If you include Alaska and Hawaii, you get 6.





Atlantic Standard Time (AST), Samoa standard time (UTC-11) and Chamorro Standard Time (UTC+10) are actually not used by the USA itself, but by territories...that would be like including the times in Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands and any other territory that Britain claims as British time zones.

Actually it doesn't have it's own...it bounces back and forth between the time zones to either side...Indiana used to do that...half the year they'd be the same as eastern and the other half the same as central. So Arizona spends 6 months on the same time as Mountain and 6 moths the same as Pacific, even though they don't change their clocks.

I do tend to eliminate bad events from my memory folder

Anything which involves times I would have skipped as I just can't make my brain get it

I remember something about it though but have come to the conclusion that time is less of a factor than being able to stay online and keep the discussion active enough then it will cross all time zones and be fine.

That is if the subject is any good.
My next discussions will be getting very limited responses if any due to them being very specific.

My only make money discussion died after a single response and I just made 2400 Pounds from the site so know it works. Was just a crap discussion.

I had to get it so that I don't wake my sister in the middle of the night which would be the case if I ring her when it's morning here

I could remember if a relative was somewhere but that is only a single time...my problem is remeembering all the other zones

That was where I first got the idea for this discussion and I saw your comment but scrapped my comment to you and did this discussion instead

I have 3 appointments per week which I have to go to and the rest of the time I do what I want.

The slow times on here are sometimes when certain countries are awake and I don't have friends there.
I am trying to get a few friends from China at the moment

Seems that here are fewer Lotters from China recently.
Didn't they block myLot there?

There are ways round it although I trust noone from China in certain areas as I know exactly what their Government has been up to from my old job.

I find that this time now is the best to be here and the most active in terms of friends being around.
For the next 3-4 hours it will be busy then slow up then get busy again

I am starting to pay a bit more atention to times now as soon will not be able to be on here as much as really bored and I'm thinking of getting a job off the internet.
I want to be more aware of when friends are likely to be around so I can plan my time a bit more

I'm going to get an Opera widget so I can then have it on any screen I want instead of having to go to my desktop all the time.
I love Opera

The World Clock I have is an icon on the desktop. When I double click it, it comes up. I have it set to "stay on top" so whatever program I am using, it remains on top. If it is in the way, it can be moved, or minimised to the task bar and brought up when needed.

I'm afraid I can't tell you where I got it, but I Googled World Time Clock + Free. There were several to choose from and I liked this one best - compact, neat, attractive (blue of course)

Counting my first profile it is around 3500 now although this is my first time past 2000,been past a thousand twice now....getting banned was a pain

It is now 2:24am here but as I don't have to be anywhere until 3.30 tomorrow I will be on here for a bit longer yet.

Just got the new add-on from Firefox it is called FoxClock. Its a great tool, shows 4 times in the bottom in the browser around the world.

yea I was in bed considering I had college classes today but I am here for the long run tonight because got nothing to do tomorrow. As for what car you should get, Cayman all the way. I don't like foreign cars but those are very nice and they are fast.

As usual I bet it is warm where you are as it is freezing here
I have got the hang of the US time zones now as got all mixed up with the non continental US zones so thought there were more than there actually are

9 hours behind me - 3.45 am here (and way past bed time )
