Schooling vs. Working

working is a lot more stressful because you now have accountability to clients. If you are in the hospital, you have accountability to your patient's health. As they say, working is a bigger world.

i recently graduated college and i'd rather stay in school than work. looking for a job is REALLY difficult. i have been applying for a couple of months now and i still have no job. being in school is easier because all you have to do is go to school, listen to your teachers, make your homework and study for your tests. you have a guide, you know what to do.

I'm neither schooling nor am I working. But if I were to choose between the two, I would definitely choose to go to school. Whatever your work situation is, unless you're the owner of the company (of course the owner too has a totally different set of pressure like acquiring bank loans, servicing a loan etc), you'll find that you'll be facing a very stressful environment; even more than while you're in school.


When I ask my sister whether she'd like to stay in school or work, she said she'd rather be a student for the rest of her life. She works in a computer company in the IT department. She said it's very stressful at her workplace. She'd rather stay in school.


I believe people always think that the pasture is always greener on the other side and never appreciate what they have in front of them. This is why many students think that going to work presents an escape from the stress of school life not knowing that the workplace presents another different set of stress altogether.

Well, it really depends on the work. My sister has a job right now making $20 an hour, working 8 hours a day. WORK, she calls it. She spends 8 of those hours sitting and talking to co-workers while they wait for the work they have to do. I think I'd much prefer that over 8 hours of school a day, lol!

I think it depends on were we work and were we go to school at for me it would be school they chage every like every 10 mints its so annyoing.

Honestly speaking, I find work more difficult. I just graduated from college and I really do long to be back in school! I cannot fully explain how it feels to go out everyday to look for a job and even surf online for job vacancies. And to make things worse, many companies even look for employees who already have experience. I actually dreaded graduation, I didn't know what would life be after school. Being the youngest in the family, I've always been the dependent one, the one who was looked after. Now, my older siblings have families of their own and I am left to fend for myself and my parents. I was really frightened because I was not used to being so independent.

So that's where I stand, work is more stressful and more difficult. Hahaha:D The responsibilities of having to pay the electric bill, the mortgage, the insurance, and anything else that gets you going is simply just astounding.

Hi pjsr18, v meet again.:) I think both are equally stressful because when u r in school, ur brain has not yet expanded enough for dynamic thinking. That only comes with practical experience on job. Think of it as dough that needs to be rolled with heavy pin. In the level it is at the time we are/ were at school, whatever were our activities were stressful! And only with experience, we tend to take it easy - oh that is the problem? well, this is the solution - either because we'd thought it, or somebody else had given it to us on a platter. Never the less, there are new challenges, which require constant search for solutions. I think being responsible is a personal trait. There are many people who do not behave responsibly - grown ups or otherwise. So if a person is responsible, he or she will be responsible at school as well, and if not, then that cannot come at any stage. Feeling responsible does add to the stress. But it is there almost equally in student life, as well as working life.

if a person is a student & really interested in the course he/she is taking, he/she will surely enjoy schooling. everyday he/she will learn something new about the course, so any homeworks or assignments will never trouble the person.

the same goes to working life. if he/she is really interested or love his/her job, he/she will never get stressed working & even willing to spend more of his/her time working.

however, i know some people who are excellent in studying but when it comes to working, they failed. while, some people failed in studying but succeed in their working life. so i think it's all depend on where is your interest & which type of person you are.

Working is more difficult because for me, when I started, I had to fend for myself and make sure I make ends meet by working so that I dont go hungry.

As a student, my parents supported my living expenses so I didn't need to worry about work and making ends meet. I just went to school on weekdays and most weekends I get time off then there's summer vacation which lasts at least a month. You dont get that with work unless youre the boss.

Working is definitely more stressful in my experience.

The day that I left university was the saddest day of my life.

I enjoyed all work and studying tremendously, and would have gladly have stayed longer and done research if the opportunity had arisen.

Work though has also provided me with some really interesting times, at least since I left taching for IT in 1980. I really enjoy my job (I am currently unemployed and missing the job like crazy) and I need to get back to it as quickly as possible.

Overall work ahead of study, but not by much.
