What can I do my baby is constipated?

what you can do is very simple there are a few options
the first is take a teaspoon of pickle juice and give that to her
the second is a bottle with water and a little bit of pure maple syrup
and the third is fruit lots of it


the third one is usually done when your baby is starting to eat jarred foods

you can also rub the heals of her feet the pressure point for your bowels are in your heals not sure how effective it is for a baby tho. however i am a mother of three and the maple water and the pickle juice has always worked for me

I lived in a small town for about 14 years of course still do (the next town over) and the doctor in that town retired about 6 years ago at age 80. He had alot of home remedies to share with us when we went to doc. For constipation: tsp of Kayro syrup in bottle (white syrup) Stomach ache: open can of regular coke and let it set out until it looses its fizz (about 2 hrs) then give alittle in a bottle or juice cup if older. it cannot be pepsi has to be coke.

It depends on how old your baby is. Is she ready for weaning yet? If not, your best bet is probably a bottle of boiled water (cooled down, obviously!) If she doesn't like it, as they sometimes don't because it has no real taste - try adding just a tiny bit of sugar. This isn't a long term solution though, you don't want to get her hooked on sugar especially at such an early age!:) Hope this helps

I totally understand your concern when your baby did not pass motion for 3 days. My daughter used to have this problem when she started to consume solid food. (at about 5.5 months old). She likes solid food a lot, yet she seldom drinks water as compared to the time she only drink milk. I did asked the pediatrician and she told me that it is normal.

May I know how old is your baby now? I am not sure about the "right" frequency of a kid should pass motion, but if my girl do not clear her bowel daily, she will be passing hard stool the following days.

These are some of the methods I used:
1) I feed my daughter with fruit daily. Papaya is my most preferred choice because it definitely makes her poo the next day. Other than papaya, pear, banana, apple and plum should be a good option as well.

2) There are some healthy snacks (dried prunes and raisins)that you could offer to your daughter. Although they taste sweet but they will improves her bowel movement.

3) If your daughter showed no rejection towards dairy products, for example yogurt, it will be a great method too to improve her bowel movement.

4) I love to feed cultured milk drink to my girl. I am quite frequent in letting her drink it because it contains probiotics which helps to maintain a healthy digestive system.

5) Of course, drinking plenty of water after eating is compulsory.

6) Lastly, I've developed a habit which I "urge" my daughter to pass motion after she wakes up from afternoon nap everyday. Most of my friends also do the same and it works!

Anyway, you may need to tackle the best time and method that suited your girl best. I believe the more you practice, the easier it will get.

From the looks of your photo, your baby must still be really young. My daughter had the same problem. When she was first born shoe would go a couple times a day for the first two weeks. After that, she would go maybe once a week. We also dealt with horrible colic. I always felt those two things were realated somehow. I don't think I'll ever know. We went to doctor appointments ALL the time and just got little remidies to try every time. Nothing worked for her. When she was 7 months old we tried mineral oil in her bottles, and that helped for a while. She would still have really hard stools. It wasn't until we went back to the doctor after trying everything, that they finally put her on Miralax. She was finally going and it was normal looking! I was so relieved. We are currently trying to wean her off it, and she's doing ok. We give her a lot of fruit, vegetables, juice and water. Good luck with your baby! I hope something works.

Oh yeah, by the way, constipation is only determined if the stool is hard and dry. It isn't constipation if your baby is going a few times a week and it's still soft. That is normal.

Also, the reason why constipation continues to occur, like in my daughter, it was becuase she had had so many dry painful stools that she was afraid to go, because it would hurt. So, she would hold it in as long as she could and it would just become hard and dry again. Once you break that cycle and show her that it doesnt have to hurt, they will go on there own. That's why I'm able to wean her off the medicine now, because she's not afraid to go anymore.
