Amazon Booksellers  | |  Does anyone else sell books on Amazon?
Isn't it annoying when other sellers have heavy books listed for £0.01
How do they do it when the postage is so much for a heavy or thick book?
I have had to give a lot of books away because they would make me no profit. Also with postage going up and Amazon not putting their post and packing cost up I have had to go through them all again and relist them, geting rid of about 10 boxes of books. I did have thick books listed which were under 250g and sellin for a penny because I would still make a small profit on them, but the cost of postage now for a packet under 250g is now £1.41 - the exact same price I would get if I sold them for a penny.
Maybe I will have a boot sale!

My guess is some of the bigger sellers get people to buy the penny books and then they also buy more books from the same person. I do not know about postage and packaging cost in the UK, but I know in the US they can ship for under the shipping and handling charge per book and make a little bit of a profit off that, however very minimal. When I was selling off my grandma's library last summer I considered Amazon, but quickly found it was easier to just quickly get rid of the ones worth over $1 on Amazon on eBay and then just donate the rest or take to my used book store for store credit.
