If you were offered the ability to read other people's minds would you do it? |
|
Have you ever wondered how people thought of you? I wouldn't take the powers, i think i'd go crazy. it's already hard enough coping with all the arguments and different viewpoints now. We're just all so different and there're so many things we hide from each other that some things are better kept secrets. Some peoples minds could be very scary. What do you think would you take the super powers?

1. cbakin20 (152) | 4 months ago | I would definitely take the super powers. I have always enjoyed analyzing people and trying to figure out what I can from them. This would just make this little quirk I have a LOT more interesting. I wouldn't ever use it for anything bad, I'd just use it purely for my basic curiosity and analysis of other humans. I would try my best to just stay a third party observer and not respond to anything they were actually thinking. This would also help a lot when I am having arguments, and need to know what the other person is really arguing about.

satan88 (942) | 4 months ago | i don't know i think the joy of analyzing people would be gone along with the whole mystique of the human mind once you're able to read them like a book. I enjoy analysing humans now without the power and using just my experiences and maybe a little bit of empathy. I think it's more fun that way. But i know what you mean i'd love to be able to see what girls think about me. thanks for your answer.

cbakin20 (152) | 4 months ago | Well, I like analyzing people from a distance, even before talking to them, so it would certainly help to at least get an idea of what they were thinking about at the time. I just like seeing what I can tell from watching how they're moving. I base a lot on first impressions, and it would just help me out to know more if I could trust the impression and whether I should trust the person.

3. snowy22315 (8144) | 4 months ago | I dont know if I would like reading other peoples mind. I might not want to know what they are thinking, especially if it is something negative about me. i just wish I could only read peoples minds when they have good things to say. That is what I wish.

satan88 (942) | 4 months ago | i don't think that's possible but then again neither is any other part of this hypothetical situation. That would be a great thing to have though.

4. nowment (1185) | 4 months ago | It is a tough call, there are possibilities that could help and use this talent for benefit of self and others but it seems there are to many problems that would go with it. How often do people get hurt feelings when something is said thoughtlessly, well at times especially when being emotional we all have had stray thoughts that will hurt feelings and that we do not really mean.
Also the whole privacy issue, I would want my own privacy respected, and so I would think that it is something that should not be an ability of anyone.
Often times there are people who feel their privacy is not respected, those who maybe have a diary peaked at or when people go snooping in others homes.
Imagine the lack of privacy if people could read each other's minds.

satan88 (942) | 4 months ago | well i'll make sure only you have this power and it's off limits to others, lol but i know what you mean it would certainly suck to have no privacy. it's hard enough these days without magic.

nowment (1185) | 4 months ago | LOL I know what you mean, and for me I think that there are just to many emotional issues that could be so cloudy here. LOL But its ok if I am the only one with the gift LOL.

6. patofgold23 (1670) | 4 months ago | sounds like a very cool superpower!! I would take it..why not? i think it's gonna be fun too.. yeah there would be some disadvantages that comes along with it...
but there's always a price for everything.
and if the price I have to pay for taking the superpower is being hurt (by knowing what others think), or disappointed..etc...i can take that...
might be fun to know their secrets too!LOlz!

7. Jennlk84 (2288) | 4 months ago | I don't think I'd want the chance to read other peoples minds. It would be a little more than I need to know, I think! Plus, then everyone would be an open book. You wouldn't be able to keep anything to yourself. And hey ya know - some secrets are good secrets! Like surprises!

satan88 (942) | 4 months ago | yea that's what i was thinking. what's the fun of all those open books. i don't even like open book tests. i think it gets more complicated there's just too much info i might spend too much time looking even though i already know the answer. thanks for your response:)

8. Angelwriter (1190) | 4 months ago | Absolutely not. The odds that I would hear something I'd be better off not knowing are too great. And,I doubt a power like that would give you the option to pick and choose which thoughts you'd get to hear.

9. erikmama (2153) | 4 months ago | Sometimes I think it would be nice to read a person's mind. But i do not think I would want the ability to read everyone's mind all of the time. It would definatley be a scary thing to know what people are thinking even before they say it!

10. UK_Shree (1849) | 4 months ago | I think I share a similar view to you. I'd prefer not to know what people were thinking. It would cause so many arguments between people. If for example I could read someone's mind and they were thinking of all the things they disliked about me yet they were being really polite I'd be mad! This way, we can keep our feelings to ourselves which is probably for the best.
