Now there is something I would die for, a FRESH Shrimp/Prawn ROLL.

How these things are made is you have a FRESH bread Roll (9inch), some shredded Lettuce, salt/pepper, Mayo, (a small squeeze of lemon juice, by choice and most important SHRIMPS as we call them here is Australia, PRAWNS.

Maybe six or eight cooked/peeled and veined.

To sit back and eat one of them BABIES is HEAVAN.

How your Idea, What is it that you like small to make but is the World to eat ???

Hi hic, I eat that often myself, either with or without the bread.

My favourite way with the prawns though is really simple, hot olive oil in the wok, chuck in the sliced red chillies and garlic, add the prawns, and serve straight up with the oil and some crusty breadthumbup

I love prawns any time, This season has been one of the best I have seen in Australia for prawns and thats all I have been doing is eating prawns.

hi hiccup,

i also love that food, shrimps or prawns are one of my favorite dishes..
they are healthy and they are very delicious, wow i crave them so much..
those food is very expensive here in our place, maybe because they are
very delicious that's why they sell them so high, or maybe
because they are very hard to catch on, w00t..
and very rare, i think soo..!! what do you think?? glare

This year we were paying around $14 Kilo where they are normally about $18/24 Kilo.

So you can see I have been eating well of late on prawns/shrimps.

sounds like something I got in Victoria B.C. many, many moons ago. The shrimp they used were really tiny tho and they didn't put lettuce and mayo, but I think it might've been offered, I think I chose cocktail sauce (ketchup and horse radish) but it was on a yummy roll and it was divine!

I adore shrimp anything! Shrimp salad, shrimp creole, shrimp sandwich, steamed, fried, barbequed, any way at all!

But, I think my all-time favorite thing that I drool over is strawberry shortcake. I LOVE seeing my strawberries growing out in the garden because I know I'll soon have my strawberry shortcake! I told my kids that, if I take my time dying, they are to stuff my mouth full of strawberry shortcake and I'll die a very happy person. lol

Then again, there's that first sandwich made with home-grown tomatoes, too. There's nothing like the taste of a vine-ripened tomato that you grew yourself. Right now, I'm inundated with tomatoes! I go out almost every day and pick more ripe tomatoes. I've already made a huge pot of stewed tomatoes and it looks like I'll be making another very soon. I was going to can them but I can't find my big pot to sterilize the jars in. Maybe I'll find it when I find all those odd socks that always seem to disappear in the dryer. blink (It's probably in the basement; I just have to go and check... it's not something I use often and is quite large so I don't keep it in the kitchen, taking up much-needed space.)

You could do semi dried tomatoes.

Slice them med thick, place on a metal tray, sprinkle with herbs and splash with good herbs,

Place in oven on very low heat and leave door open a bit, It will take all day to semi dry them, Then place in a bottle of olive oil and some full garlic cloves.

Not only do you have semi dries tomatoes, the oil is great to cook with.

Thank you for that awesome idea for tomatoes. I'm going to do that. I actually have a food dehydrator so I'll pull that out and get started today! It sounds delicious!!! How long do these things store? I have olive oil and I've grown my own garlic and lots of herbs so I'm all set to go.

This sounds like a really nice Christmas gift, too. I have a close friend who lives to cook. She's not really happy unless she's in the kitchen making her magic. I know she would love some of these semi-dried tomatoes in olive oil, too.

I'm not sure how long they will last as we used them from day one when we made them.

Beef Steak (the better meat) is great being shallow paned cooked with these sun dried tomatoes and oil

I did try to use some oil and garlic cloves in a bottle but I did not heat and seal the bottle and it went rank.

So I would think you may need to heat and seal the bottles like preserved fruit when bottling.

When you do the bottles use a small sprig of herb or a few leaves of (a) herb in the bottle, looks nicer.

hi hiccup oh that sounds so good,wow,I love big fat prawns and ficed that way sound really delicious. I like to take big fat shrimp and cook them just till they turn pink in olive oil and herbs,they call it shrimp scampi and charge an arm and leg forit if you get them ready made and frozen, but you can do the same thing yourself and they are really delicious expecially with some spaghetti and tomato sauce.
really good eating and its easy to fix.

A couple of Prawns/Shrimp will add to your OMEGA 3, and thats good for you and Prawns/Shrimp are not fattening.

I'll be right over. Got milk? I'll bring sweet green peppers, vine ripened tomatoes, shredded cucumber and a reel of Brie too. That was 6 or 8 for each person, right? We want to be sure to have enough!

I prefer whole-grain sour dough for the bread, spread with butter, pecorino, and basil (I'm now looking hungrily at the pots of basil growing on my window sill), and soft garlic baked ahead in olive oil.

That'll serve nicely.

mmmmm.. some nice suggestions there

On the topic of prawns i made prawn sushi for the first time from scratch the other week. ( some with carrot, and some with peppers in)

The trick for anyone fancying to make sushi out there...

1. make sure you cook the rice well and add sushi vingear
2. Make sure you have a rolling mat and dont overfill your rolls
3. Wet your fingers lots otherwise everything will stick to you

If you do not have sushi vinegar, then a little sugar and normal white vinegar will help bind the Rice.

And do not wash the rice once it has been cooked, you need the starch to hold things together.

Roll and chill before you cut and serve,
