Mom dies during pregnancy from rare Infection, leaving 5 small childre

Septicaemia is blood poisoning, you can get it when your immune system is low, often because you've already got an infection somewhere in your body, whether you know about it or not. I read somewhere that people who get meningitis can develop septicaemia. Poor kids

That is very sad. I never herd of that infection. Is it something only pregnant ladies get? I will have to look this one up.

How sad this is. Poor poor lady and baby. The family must be beside themselves. My condolences go out to them.
It's sad when you think you just have a headache and it turns out to be something much more serious as well as deadly.
I have heard of this but I don't think it is a common thing to happen. Although any time a pregnancy is involved anything can happen.
Many people do not have any idea just how much the mother takes her live into question when choosing to have a baby.
I feel so bad for this family. They will certainly be in my prayers.

I knew a young woman, that was not even 18 yet, that developed a headache, and within hours, i was kneeling over her, trying to resuscitate her. It was one of the most horrible times of my life, knowing there there were two lives laying there, and i could not do anything about it. She did start breathing again, but they (the family) was so slow in getting her to the hospital, that she died before getting there.

I've never heard of this type of infection. But then, there are many rare ones out there that noone knows about till it surfaces like this one. The poor mother and children. How sad for this to happen and so darn quick.

Septicemia is how it is spelled here...durn British can't spell.

It is also associated with septic shock.

The article from the Daily Mail seems to state this is a "rare" infection, but I have heard of it many times myself.

Oh, it has nothing to do with pregnancy...she just happened to be pregnant when it happened.

sepsis is really dangerous. i don't know how did she had sepsis. it is really important to be very clean in our body. cause sepsis will surely poison our body fast. and it is one of those things we should watch out for.

Wow! That is so sad! Now it worries me, How about if it is a common thing that we just are unaware of... During pregnancy most woman feel sick all the time, so how would we know that we are at risk?

No, never heard of septicemia, I'll have to check it out later. Makes me wonder if it's contagious or something you can only get while pregnant.
