1. The_Lamb_Lies_Down (2595) | 3 months ago | I don't THINK my avatar has anything to do with it, but being as I don't know how everyone reacts to it, it could be that it does.
I've never thought about it either way.
I just post.

jules67 (1887) | 3 months ago | Personally, from my end, even if there were animations on the avatar, what still drives to participate in the discussion is the topic. It is how interesting the topic is that makes me respond.

karenkarenkk (396) | 3 months ago | I agree with mysdianait and Rberon. I think the avatar do help on the response. First all of, people might be attracted by your avartar and then click your post, once they feel interesting, they are surely to response you. Another, an attracted avartar can help people remember and recognize you, those people who like you/your topic can reach your post easily and response. Of course, the basic is you got good discussions. Happy mylotting!

abhikmjmdr (457) | 3 months ago | For me the avatar is irrelevant. It is the content of the discussion that is most important.

2. mysdianait (11835) | 3 months ago | I find it easier to recognise an avatar. If I read an nteresting post I then associate it with an avatar and it will be the avatar which will attract me to the post next time I see it. Then I will remember the username of the person posting.
The green default avatars do not help much in my opinion as they are so anonymous though some Lotters who have them have some great discussions going.
When I open an interest and notice a particular avatar in the list of discussions, if it is one that I recognise then I am usually drawn to that particular discussion before I read the titles of the others. Of course this doesn't always mean I respond because an attractive avatar does not necessarily mean there is a brilliant discussion alongside it.

3. dolmitta (170) | 3 months ago | I really don't think so. Its completely based on the type of discussions we start and the type of discussions we respond to. So even having some really smart graphic as your avatar it actually doesn't make any change in the number of responses we get.

4. Blackw1nged (224) | 3 months ago | Well an avatar is much more interesting and drags you in rather than the default ones. I don't see why everyone doesn't just get an avatar themselves. Though I feel like my avatar generates cuteness rather than responses lol.

Blackw1nged (224) | 3 months ago | Yeah you right that the quality of a discussion comes in first but what I meant about the avatars is kind of how people always say that your eyes notice the color red faster than any other color. Well something like that. So I was sort of making a similar comparison.

5. katsalot1 (874) | 3 months ago | For me, it doesn't make much difference. It's the discussion that I'm drawn to. Although occasionally I have seen some really weird ones, and instinctively avoided them!

|
jules67 (1887) | 3 months ago | You are right about that. What draws me to respond is the topic of the discussion. I just shrug my shoulder if I find the avatar looking weird.

rberon1985 (1390) | 3 months ago | Yes, the quality of the discussion is really important. Your animated and beautiful avatar will be useless if you always have useless discussion. We should always make it sure that the discussion that we make helps other people in their life and in their concern as well.

6. jules67 (1887) | 3 months ago | I really do not think that the avatar attracts responses from the other members. Personally, I vividly look at the topic given. If it generates interest in me, I would really bother to read and respond. I do not mind at all what the avatar looks like. I think it is just an icing on the cake or a make-up one one's face.

7. Jennlk84 (2252) | 3 months ago | I guess this has probably happened a few times for me. I've seen an interesting avatar on the Mylot homepage and click on it and end up realizing oh - I'm interested in this discussion, I could respond! I never discriminate against a discussion because of an avatar though. I wouldn't NOT RESPOND to someones discussion because they have an avatar I don't like. I guess I've never really looked at an avatar as something to help generate responses, but I guess maybe it some circumstances it may happen.

rberon1985 (1390) | 3 months ago | That is right, the avatar should not be the basis in responding to the discussion. it is very important that we look into the quality of the post on how does that discussion helps other member. you are also right in saying that there are some ugly avatars but the discussions are really quality one.
