 I am a firm believer in wearing a seat belt. I believe you should wear one all the time. Not because it is the law but because it is for your own safety and well being. Seatbelts save lives. Life is important to me so I wear my seatbelt everytime I get in the car. I also do not want a ticket for not wearing my seat belt while driving. That can be costly if you don't wear your seat belt all the time. So just remember wearing a seat belt can save you money and your life.

I live outside of a very small town where there is little traffic during most of the day or evening so, if I'm going to visit someone who lives a few blocks from me I don't bother with my seat belt. I also don't normally wear it if I drive into town for the same reason. Otherwise, I wear it.

I always wear it by habit, whether I'm driving or a passenger, in the front or back seat. I feel uncomfortable without it in a car.
Actually I feel worse as a passenger without a seatbelt than when I'm driving, because I don't trust any other idiot's driving skills.
On the odd occasions, they can be detrimental, but for the most part it's common sense to wear one. And I always insist that my passengers wear one too - because I drive like a lunatic; P

Any reason, nomatter how small, it's good enough to invent a fine for it.
Actually it's called an "Obligation" to get around our constitution. But once they have you in contract, it becomes contract law.
Don't think for yourself or you may hurt the pockets of others.

I already been involved in accidents, but, even if not, ever since I've been riding a car I've been using them.
It also irks me greatly when I am accompanying someone who not only starts off or goes whole trips without wearing the seatbelt, BUT, sometimes decides to put the seatbelt on while on the move at like 50MPH... it's... pretty nerve shattering.

But being fined for not wearing one goes against the personal right to choose IMO. A person is responsible for their own self, and for whatever reason they choose not to wear one, it is NOT an offence to the nation.
