What do you do to get a good nights sleep? I have had trouble with sleep problems ever since the birth of my first child. Ever since becoming a parent i have struggled to sleep threw the night. Most people cant wait for thier child to be old enough to sleep threw the night but for me it didnt matter because im the one that cant sleep all night LOL. I have tried about everything i can think of. Even if im exhausted i sleep for couple hours and then im awake and cant fall back to sleep. I really want to avoid medications, need to find something natural to help with sleeping.

i also have s similar problem back then, but i watched a TV show back then about doctors talking about sleeping problems. They said that no matter what time you sleep at night, but what matters most is the time that you wake up in the morning. Since your body can adapt, it will naturally enable you to sleep at night once your waking up pattern is fixed. Also, i read in an article in yahoo about this breathing technique you can use. I am not sure whether i can post the link here or not so just message me in case you need it. It's helpful and i don't know, somehow it works for me.

I just started doing breathing techniques like meditation and it seems to be helping some. As for the fixing into a fixed wake time dont think that works for me because of my schedule i have to be awake at 6am every morning no matter if i was awake during the night or not.

Hi good2go2001!

I do have problems with sleeping too. I tried reading books before going to sleep, but I have a habit of getting too engrossed with what I read and I end up finishing the whole book till the wee hours of the morning. Some people can fall asleep while reading though.

I tried researching on this a few months ago, as insomnia is getting harder to combat for me. My clinical instructors have been telling us that warm milk really works and is good for inducing sleep. I didn't really believe in this at first, but when I researched on it, it does have a scientific basis. Milk contains L-tryptophan, which helps to raise the serotonin levels in the brain. Serotonin is needed to regulate sleep. According to my research, turkey also contains high levels of serotonin. When this hormone serotonin is increased, it results to increased relaxation and drowsiness.

I suggest you try it out:) It does work for me:) At least, there's no harm in trying as milk is natural. Warm milk:D

I can usually fall asleep ok but I have trouble sleeping more than 3 or 4 hours without waking up. Sometimes I fall back to sleep and sometimes I just toss and turn.

I too have problems in sleeping during night time due to more work strain in the office through out the day i will not get sleep, so in order to avoid that i made a habit of reading books by which while reading i go into sleep and i wake up after 4 hrs of sleep which is sufficient for me to reduce stress and become fresh....

I've been having sleep problems for a long time and then I realized that I do a lot better if I don't stress myself over any little problem. And since then, my sleeping habit changed completely. I don't have a child so I guess it's a lot easier for me, but if you have problems falling asleep they can be easily removed if you spend your last 30 minutes before going to sleep in a quiet and peaceful environment. Bubble bath (when possible), relaxing teas, nice soft music, some aromatic candles should do the trick. When you fall asleep but wake up after to few hours you can always try some homeopathic medicines, they're made of plants, they can't hurt you.
