help with ubuntu lixux and firefox please  | |  i dont know if any of you can help me or not, i have the ubuntu linux os on my computer. i love it. its so much faster than windows, and i have much more control over my computer.
the problem is i do not understand much of the lingo and geek talk..lol but i want to. at least enough to be able to use ubuntu.
right now i am having trouble in mozilla firefox. i have two issues that may actually be the same issue. when i log into triond.com there is a graph that shows where my site hits are coming from. that does not show up in firefox and i really miss that tool. the other issue is that when i log into myspace there is a lot of things that come up as little play buttons (that is really not a button just an image) instead of the vid that it should be as well as when i try to play my green spot application my garden comes up with that play button.
do any of you know how i can fix this? thanks for taking the time to read and offer help if you can. hope you all have a great day!

Hope it helps, but im not so optimistic.
I use Debian Linux OS, which ubuntu is based on.
I also install a vmware(virtual machine software) on my deiban and have the Windows installed on vmware. On some cases, i have to switch to windows to finish something.
I ever wrote code for web, it's really a tough job to make your code fit all the internet browsers. Code run smoothly on IE is not guaranteed to run well on firefox, and vice versa.
'Cos both IE and firefox have their own quirks which is hard to trace.
and because IE occupied most of the market share, most programmers debug their program on IE first and some of them ignore to test on other browers.
So, unfortunately, some websites can only run on IE perfectly.

thanks for the tip. i checked and yes it is enabled. i know it has to be in the settings or maybe a specific add on because my husband switched to ubuntu the same time i did and i can see all the stuff i am trying to on his computer. we will get it worked out sometime. | |

It means that the script on your currently viewing site is blocked. If you really trust the site then right click on it and allow its script to run.

| | 4.  mohamedthoufeeq (288) | 3 months ago |  The problem is due to the absence of flash player and related plugins. I also encountered the same problem when I was a beginner in Linux. I just love the operating system.
Now, what you have to do is install the swf, and associated players and plugins in your mozilla firefox. For that, you have to click on the "Install missing plugins" button which appears in the bottom right corner or upper right corner of your browser when you just navigate through the pages with flashes and others. Just select the plugins one by one and install it. Repeat the same procedure until all listed plugins are installed.
I had to do it three times to install 3 missing plugins in my firefox browser. Also, I have an adobe plugin too.
