With all the different flavors of instant per measured prepackaged oatmeal on the market what do you prefer? Is old fashion healthier for you than instant? What do you like to put on your oatmeat...suagr, butter, milk, nuts, fruit? By the time we add all these goodies to it is it really that healthy? Hmmmmmmm just something to think about

Actually, steele cut oatmeal is the healthiest oatmeal for you. Intant and old fashion oatmeal are the same...you just have to cook one longer than the other. Steele cut oatmeal is more healthy and is more expensive.
I like to put butter, brown sugar, and cinnomon in my oatmeal. Its very tasty.

I will have to look for that kind in the grocery store not sure if ive ever seen this type of oatmeal but it sounds good. Tonight the kids and I are making Monster Cookies with oatmeal im guess thats going to take all the healthiness out of those oats! lol

I love the convenience that instant oatmeal gives rather than the old fashion which needs cooking. I eat oatmeal when I don't have time to fix myself a meal, so it is really convenient to just pour water on it, then eat it right away.
There are pre-packed instant oatmeal that already carried variety of flavors and I am into exploring it nowadays. My favorite so far are the milk and chocolate oatmeal. But I am interested in trying out fruits variety flavors. Also, I have not tried putting butter into my oatmeal, it sounds interesting though.

Hi, good2go

I prefer old fashioned oatmeal. Instant does not feel very cooked for me.
I do not think one is healthier that the other though. I think it would depend what you add to it. For me, I just like to put milk and sugar in my oatmeal.
Have a nice day!
