Single mother tryin to make it... |
|
How many of us are there here on MyLot? I am new to this genre of people, as I just gave birth to my adorable daughter 15 days ago! I have no financial support from her father, although my parents do provide me with a place to live. I have enough diapers to last till October, but after that I need a job! Childcare costs more than minimum wage, so I'd planned on working in a nursery where I can take my daughter with me rather than pay a daycare more than my salary, but her pediatrician advised against that as we'd be at high risk to catch all sorts of bugs. So I have no idea what I'm going to do! In the meantime, I've been blogging trying to save up some extra cash! Right now I have $57.22, so I still need to make more than 43 dollars in the next 11 days in order to reach the $100 payout and get a check in October! I don't know if my daughter and I can wait till November for that check!
Anyway, if you're a single mother, you may be interested in my blog... http://www.SingleMomsAreS... if you're ANY mother just tryin to make it, check out the blog with links to free giveaways on diapers, formula, and other baby products: http://wwww.namebrandmomm... to all you other single mothers out there... 1. Netsbridge (1050) | 4 months ago | I sure do hope that women will stop having children until after marriage! It is no fun trying to raise a child alone, and children tend to do better when raise in a two-parent home. Please, ladies, keep your legs crossed until there is a ring on yoru finger!

iheartblogging (392) | 4 months ago | Yes, because it is soooo difficult for a married man to walk out on his wife and kids...

Netsbridge (1050) | 4 months ago | At least a child often has the sense of self worth for having been born in wedlock! By the way, where is the sperm donor? And I hope the hardship you will encounter keeps you away from such stupid mistake in the future.

iheartblogging (392) | 4 months ago | If a child born out of wedlock has a lower sense of self-worth, it is only due to people like you who don't value non-nuclear families.

Netsbridge (1050) | 3 months ago | Iheart, children are supposed to be born to a married man and wife: This structure, though not always a guarantee, gives a child emotion stability. Yes, there is no denial that I do not condone non-nuclear family. Unless a woman is at least smart enough to get a financially secure man to provide support, having children out-of-wedluck is indeed a burden to society!
Therefore ladies: You do not have to have children to be complet or be accepted in society. And if a man does not love and respect you enough to first put a ring on your finger, you ought to be able to tell him to beat it!

iheartblogging (392) | 3 months ago | I don't support any line of reasoning from which it can be concluded that a child is a mistake. My daughter is not a mistake; she is a miracle. It is nothing short of a miracle that two imperfect people could create someone so perfect. I will never allow my daighter to be called a mistake. She is a miracle.

o0Tora0o (261) | 3 months ago | Netsbridge, I'm glad to see that you put so much faith in marriage, but do you know what the difference between a married couple and an unmarried couple is?
The married couple has a paper that says they're entitled to tax breaks. That's about it. It doesn't do a darn thing to change the dynamic of the relationship between the two. It doesn't guarantee stability. People get divorced. People get laid off. Life happens.
Quit trying to tell someone who's walking a different path than you are that they've made a mistake. It's not your place to judge that.

2. irishidid (3067) | 4 months ago | I've been there so I full understand where you are coming from. I am a single mom who never got any help either by way of money or physical care of my children. Finding a job that pays decent is difficult. I ended up starting a daycare which kept me going for several years until my kids were older and I could go outside the home to work. I could go on and on about my experiences as a single mom as could most other single moms.

| 3. jeoline (52) | 4 months ago | Hi there,
I'm a single mom, too. I have two wonderful children who are 16 and 20 years old respectively. I can certainly relate to how difficult it is to raise a child as a single mother. I'm so glad that you have your parents to count on for a place to live and as far as your baby's father... it may just be better for her and for you if he stays out of the picture depending on what kind of a person he is.
I just checked out a couple of your blogs and want to tell you how impressed I am with your writing skills for such a young person. You have a true gift. I would suggest to you that, if at all possible, you find more income streams for your writing that you can take advantage of from home.
From your blogs I can see what a loving and nurturing mother you are and I certainly would not say that having your beautiful little Sophie was a mistake as another member here suggests. Sure the timing may not have been perfect for you to get pregnant at such a young age but I think every person on the planet has something in there life that they would do a little differently.
I have sent you a friend request. I hope you'll accept it. If may have some ideas that may help you out in earning some more money if you're open to them. I know they've helped me out tremendously. I'm happy to share my resources with you if they will help you out.

malamar (468) | 3 months ago | iheart, jeoline is correct, your writing shows both talent and a lurking sense of humour. You might do well to develop that talent further while you are at home with your baby.
She is beautiful, by the way. You stay firm and stand strong in your belief that your baby is indeed not a mistake, she truly is a miracle. I would be more than willing to help you in anyway I can to find ways to make a little extra money online.

4. o0Tora0o (261) | 3 months ago | You know, something that's really worked for me in the past is reselling used books. There are a couple of used book stores in town that will give cash for books, so I would go around to thrift stores and the local library on my lunch breaks and pick up books to resell. The profits were ridiculously good--I could pay $6 for a bunch of books and get $50 for them at the used stores.
Stopped doing it when I got pregnant (pesky little bugger seems to think I should spend my lunch break eating now!), but I really need to get back into doing that. If you have transportation and there are stores in your area that do that, you might be able to earn a lot of what you need. Just be sure to check out the store's requirements before you start buying a lot of stuff if you're gonna do it. Some can be picky about what they take.
