How to get your lost or stolen laptop or mobile back? Laptop tracking system.  | |  Well, I lost my laptop and thought I will never find it. I was really sad when, One of my friend said you can find your lost laptop. Well, call dell now and tell them.
Their is an IP tracker, inbuilt in the laptop and so the company can trace the location of the laptop whenever anyone accesses the net.
Is it true are there other ways to trace laptops.
And how to trace a lost mobile if IMEI no. is not known or is know?

Laptop manufacturers haven't yet introduced like mobile phones IMEI no trackers.. Only Dell can help you out, try contacting them.. all the best..

Each product has its own uniqye identification number. This number cannot be changed by the casual user. The device will identify itself with this number, making it possible to track its movements.
It does sound like Big Brother, but the security aspect is greater than privacy issues.

| rosdimy (1877) | 3 months ago | It is an inbuilt identification number. A computer has what is called Machine Address Code or MAC. You may format the hard disk, or replace it, but the MAC does not change.
Tracking a laptop is time consuming in making the necessary preparations, and is not done except for certain reasons. Once set up it does not take long to make a trace. To do this there is a need for cooperation fron the ISP provider. Every computer connected to the Internet can be checked for its MAC. The location can be identified. With the proper equipment the location can be zoomed in.

Even if that`s possible, i don`t think that you will have luck, because you must demonstrate that it`s really your computer, you must tell them some number from the paper, and i don`t know how many of you really keep thouse . After that, you should demonstrate that you`re laptop it`s not anymore at you, and even if they search for it, do you think that they will trak it? If it`s in another country/? What do you do? Even if it`s connected to the internet, i don`t think they can track the laptop or mobile phone .
