The Kitty Caper | | | | So, I'm at work and cleaning the bird's cage. The bird, a cockatiel, is our mascot and I clean his cage twice a week. He whistles at me and I whistle back. While he were whistling, the bird made a really high pitched sound. I said, "Bird's name, you have a new sound and I can't replicate it." So, I'm watching the bird. I hear the sound again but the bird's beak or throat didn't move. It's not the bird making the sound. I start following the sound. It's really loud and I know it's going to disturb some of the folks who stay at our facility. My radar ears finally close in on the sound. Low and behold, it's a little kitten sitting on the settee in the 1st floor elevator foyer. The little guy is just screaming his lungs out. I scoop up the gray striped tabby cat and lock him in my security office. I think I know where the kitten came from so I go upstairs to talk to the person. The lady said, she didn't know anything about the cat: "Didn't I want it." I said sure I'll take him home. I go back downstairs and call my husband to tell him I'm bringing a kitten home. We talk for a while about how the kitten may have gotten into the building. It had been raining and thought the kitten was trying to get in out of the rain. I'm thinking the kitten is not wet, someone brought it in. Now I have a kitten and it's going home with me. Not 10 minutes after talking to my husband, the woman came down to the security desk. Guess what she's holding? Yep, your right, another kitten plus two baggies of kitten food and a can of canned cat food. The story is this: She had told her children she was taking the two tom cats to the pound. The kids didn't want the cats to go to the pound, so they snuck them into a sack along with the food. They were going to hide the kittens in the residents room hoping the resident's daughter will find the kittens, fall in love with them and take them home. Needless to say, their plan didn't quite work the way they had planned. Their heart was in the right place but their plan still worked. One guess as to who has the kittens. Yeah, it's me. My husband didn't talk to me for several days because instead of coming home with one kitten I came home with two. I also have a little puppy. The kittens and the puppy are the best of friends. The puppy lets them nurse, which is really odd because she's too young to even lactate. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

| | Cats are wonderful creatures. You can see intelligence in their eyes. Don't ever make one mad. They'll leave a present on your bed or in your shoe. The kittens are doing great. They've adjusted to my busy house full of dogs, 2 grown senior cats and our 13 month old grandson. | | | | | | | Ann Arbor Pet Sitting Pet 'N Play - Daily Dog Walking, In-Home Pet Sitting, and More! www.pet-n-play.com | add comment | | | |

| | The two kittens sleep with the puppy. They even try to nurse off of her. It's fun watching them play. My husband is refusing to clean the litter boxes. He usually did that on a regular basis. I guess he considers that as fair punishment. I don't mind though, so it's not a punishment. He is talking to me. Oh, by the way, he made a steps so the kittens could get into the litter boxes. What a softey. | | | | | | | Glendale Cat Show 2/25 200+ cats & kittens to see, all breeds catsla.com | add comment | | | |
