Did you have a rebellious youth? |
|
I've always been a consertative fellow. i've never made any trouble with the law or my parents. I guess i never had a wild streak but i know most of my friends have. What about you were you rebellious in your younger days?

1. forptc (201) | 3 months ago | Oh I was alright. I was both eccentric and rebellious. As young as sixth grade, I brought along a fan knife to school, got caught by a teacher and found myself talking to the principal. Good thing there were three of us who got caught and one of us was really good with crying in that he gained the mercy of the principal thereby keeping them from calling our parents. Whew, close call. During high school, I drank a lot, smoked a lot, went to school drunk. There was even a time I was so drunk I threw up during our YDT (Youth Development Training) day. Good thing I was already a senior then and had security of status. I also cut classes then, didn't come home for days without letting my family know where I was. I've always wanted to be independent from my family.

satan88 (746) | 3 months ago | wow that really is rebellious. you sure have lived an interesting life forptc. but i guess at least you're now through this phase and can look back to those days and smile because of all the fun you had doing it.

forptc (201) | 3 months ago | Yes, quite interesting specially when I look back but way back then it was just out of the ordinary and didn't really mean much. Of course I changed for the better when I was already making money on my own, learning to be more responsible, thrifty and knowing which is essential from what isn't. I've scaled down the things I've been doing before. It was fun, really, but I still kept the qualities of being on my own and the folks just came to accept it, maybe not completely yet but bit by bit. I just can't wait to find a job away from home, in another country most preferably.

2. emilie2300 (1138) | 3 months ago | What a good question I can relate to.
I was a monster when I was growing up. I was very rebellious didn't listen to my parents and was very obnoxious.
Didn't listen in school skipped school was suspended many of times. Was never really in trouble with the law.
Just was more upset with the family home situation didn't want to obey so I had to do what I had to do.
Basically now that I am older I see a lot of reasons why it happened. My brother had a learning disability when I was younger and still dose. He was basically there good child who done nothing wrong got what ever he wanted.
Me it was like you are older you should know better. No attention was ever given to me so I had to seek my attention and love else where. because I was not getting it from home.
I would say all of really got worse when I was in middle school. and continued through high school.
I did move out when I was 17 though. My parents did not talk to me for almost four years.
Then for some reason they stop talking to me again for about 2years. Now we have a very good relationship and they met there grandchildren.
But My oldest daughter had picked up my bad habits from when I was a child. And I am not very proud of it. So we have been going through councilling and therapy and home therapy.
Take care...

satan88 (746) | 3 months ago | wow i really feel for you because it seems like you've been through a lot. for me i had a very strict upbringing and i never really had much freedom. i was the youngest child so i was treated like the kid of the family the whole time. i had no rebellious spirit maybe because i never felt the courage to do what i wanted and i knew my parents just wanted the best for me. I'd love to have your strength and independance and lust for freedom and life. thanks for the enlighting response:) and have a good day

emilie2300 (1138) | 3 months ago | You have a good day also. Thanks. Well it was more so because there was no freedom you were not aloud to have sleep overs you were not aloud to sleep over anyone's house.
You had to be in when the street lights came on. I got mad because when I got to high school I wanted to continue playing basketball but in high school you had to have certain basketball shoes the parents wouldn't buy them for me.
Getting a 2 dollar allowance every two weeks didn't help either. and not aloud to babysit was out of the question. Then I wanted to go to another high school for half day and take cosmetology that was out of the question. I started to get madder that I couldn't do what I wanted in life.
But my brother was getting everything. So it hurt. Yes I had a very ruff up bringing I have wrote a 17pg story about my life and when I was put into a shelter after having my two children I won award for my story for making the most progress while I was in there for 4mo.
I would say I completely bettered my life now. Break a few rules here and there but nothing like the child hood days.
I do know if I could go back I would do things a lot differently now.

3. Tantrums (946) | 3 months ago | Not a rebellious youth though... It's just I did what I've wanted when I was in high school and even college... I turned out pretty well even with all of those beer... and a little weed.

satan88 (746) | 3 months ago | lol, that's good to know. there is a fine difference i guess as long as you didn't break the law and joined gangs i guess it's not considered rebellious. though this makes me wonder what constitutes as rebelliousness and what just comes of youth. although i have to say i don't approve of the weed but to each it's own. have a nice day:)

4. moneymakingtoday (1597) | 3 months ago | no, not in any instance. i humbly say that i have always been well-mannered and "law abiding" to parents, society and any other authorities, in my youth and later, in my work and adult life.
i have always believed that living a clean and trouble-free life is always a guilt-free life and always, we can hold our heads high being confident and silently proud that we are better persons in the eyes of society and above all, God.

satan88 (746) | 3 months ago | well i'lm glad that i finally found another person who lived a "law abiding" youth and even later in adult life. although i don't think i believed it and upheld it as strongly as you did.

satan88 (746) | 3 months ago | do you regret those things that you have done or are you happy that you are richer and wiser for the experience?

The_Lamb_Lies_Down (2595) | 3 months ago | A little of both, really. I regret some of them, but they ARE what made me who I am today, so...

| Claire859 (42) | 3 months ago | You certainly have me beat LOL. I used to just get dropped off in out of the way places to make it difficult to get home when wasted. Our Sheriff's had a sick sense of humor.
