A Tank full of gas, and away we go |

Has anyone ever noticed, that traveling can take a ton of burden off your shoulders? It clears your mind, and gives you a sense of adventure. My longest journey was the summer of 1985. I and the family hopped in the truck and went as far back est as Washington D.C. With stops in Tennessee, New York City, and even Niagara Falls. We were fortunate enough to also see the Devil's Tower in Wyoming and Mount Rushmore in South Dakota. My parents still have pictures of that trip, and it always brings back a memory or two. I do miss hitting the open road, and patiently hitting every state along the way. If I had the resources, and someone to join, I wouldn't hesitate to go again. Do you like to travel? If you could go back, where would be the first place? For me, it would have to be New York City. There was so much I missed when I visited before

3. mzz663 (1009) | 3 months ago | Sounds like when I was a kid....My parents took us every summer somewhere different. I've been to all the states (Hawaii & Alaska were after I was older & moved out from the parents) I kind of miss doing all the traveling and wish I'd have been older for some of the things, I really didn't appreciate seeing and doing as much as I could or should have. I have promised my youngest son for the last four years or so that I would take him to see the ocean. This past summer we packed up and went to Washington,DC and then NC for a week. It was nice to take him there, he's old enough that he appreciated it and wants to go back there to live. I ended up taking him to Virginia and Tennessee, too and now all he wants to do is go, go, go!! You are right though, there are things I missed seeing and doing on the trips when I was a kid and would go back to see them again. Funny thing is, when you go back, things never are like you remember they were!!

hotsummer (2714) | 3 months ago | yes it is good if only i could have one person at least to travel with. it will be great too even with one person company only on some road travel and just getting around different places. i am dreaming to do that. sigh. when will that be possible. only i can do every day is sigh and wish something good come of my situation. life seems simple and easy when we can travel open. but life seems too difficult and complicated when we just stay at home. staying at home really makes us feel differently and makes us more think of our problems.

| 5. jaunty_mellifluous (30) | 3 months ago | Sure does. Especially the fact that you tank is full and so are you pockets full of money. Besides, we generally take these type luxuries during vacations so there's nothing really to worry about work and stuff like that. That's what makes it more relaxing.
I've been to Kaghan Naaran twice. It's a terrain full of mountains here in Pakistan It's very beautiful. It's a real pleasure to see it. I enjoyed more the second time because I was with my friends and got to climb up the glaciers real high this time.
I have some pictures of that trip on my facebook.

7. jodylee_04530 (509) | 3 months ago | I love traveling and think you are really right with it clearing your mind and adding to your sense of adventure. My favorite trip was in 2001 when I drove from Colorado to Maine. It was just me and the open road. No one was with me to share the adventure, but I learned more about myself on that trip then any other time in my life.
I have had so many road trips that I could go on forever with this discussion. Great times with friends and family. Now I have two little babies and can't wait to get back in the car with them in tow! Lots of roads trips in our future!

| 8. ryouga (63) | 3 months ago | I like to travel so much that I am now a travel agent. (An independent agent, I don't work at a agency.) My longest trip was when I helped my aunt move back to Florida from California. Why? I have no clue. But I enjoyed seeing Arizona, New Mexico and developed an affinity for West Texas. (No, I'm not going to move next door to Bush.) I also discovered that I really enjoy Cajun food. If I had moved down there to be with my ex, I'd probably weigh a ton right now.
I'm tryign to set my life up so that these fun little trips are no longer so much of a pipe dream. I hate sitting in one place for too long. Also my friends and family are scattered across teh country and I'd like top visit them more.

9. celticeagle (4706) | 3 months ago | I love to travel! Haven't been able to for many years. I would love to get back to San Fransisco, The Redwoods, Victoria Island in British Columbia, Canada. I have been in only 13 of our states so I have alot left to see. I still want to see the deep south and eastern states. There is an island off the Michigan coast that I have to see. It is where the movie Somewhere in Time was filmed. Where the Grand Hotel is located. Mackinac Island. I must see it. I am leaving in March to do some traveling and hope to get to California and also to alittle place right near the border of Oregon and California. It is a bed and breakfast with the bedrooms built like treehouses. Can you believe it? So I have alot a head to look forward to in the Spring.
New York is such a huge place and there is alot to see. Hope you make it back there and then come tell us all about it!

10. involved62 (629) | 3 months ago | I love travelling by road. You get to see more and definitely, it is relaxing (except for the driver who has to keep his eyes on the road). My last one was ages ago in 1991. Travelling from D.C. (my high school friend lives and works there) to New York, I got to see other states like MD, VA. Delaware, PA. I have to convince my husband to do the same as I did with my friend and this time do FL to NV (where my sister lives). I'm sure we will see a lot on the way.

geminikid (1071) | 3 months ago | There are two places in the states I haven't been, Florida and Hawaii. It probably has a lot to do with the expense too. There are others that I would of liked to gone, but it didn't happen somehow. Thanks for your comment involved
