I have several on some of the sites I belong to and I can be in contact with most of them. Here on myLot if they accept the automatic friend request that they receive when they register then I can PM them immediately. Not many do though - and most never ever come back after the day that they join

Hi there Diana! Yes, they may work or remain active on some other money making sites, what I feel is they do not return to mylot as mylot is not every one's cup of tea.

Why is online different from offline I wonder When we sign up to something offline it is because we want to and we know what it is all about. Why sign up to myLot (or other sites in general) if you are not interested?

Offline business and on-line business will always remain different. . We cannot do anything to erase the differences or gaps between off line and on-line business.
Actually, people join mylot without giving it a thought, what it is all about and what they are supposed to do here. When they find that it requires some real hard work to participate in discussions or start their own, they just give up. I feel only 10% of the total number of members remain committed to mylot or remain active for longer period of time. (You and I are of course among 10%)

A very good point, Diana!

1) Many people are not told accurately or sufficiently what MyLot is about so they sign up under false pretences, as it were. I'm sure that you don't advertise for referrals like this but I know that some do. I, too, have seen the kind of 'advert' that goes "MyLot pays you to post and pays you 25% for your referrals. Join here now to start earning!"

2) Many people will sign up to something that looks legitimate just for the sake of it. They will have signed up to hundreds of sites in their time and hardly ever visit them again. For that kind of person, often, almost anything is too much like hard work!

That's my point Deep. Surely they know it will take some effort to get some earnings? Do that many people still think they can get something for nothing? That is the same offline too only less accentuated I suppose - or maybe not.

Yes Owl I have seen those type of ads about myLot and I have seen worse, downright lies too. I saw the ad saying that we are paid five cents a post that some 'clever' person was spamming the cyberworld with. I don't see the point in not telling it like it is. You have to DO something if you want to earn and if you do, then you earn nicely.

Yes, yesterday on of the fellow mylotters told me that some are being paid @ 5 cent per post, I was wondering. After reading your comments, I can understand that it is only spam and wrong publicity.
It is absoultely true - No pains, no gains. We need to work hard in real life to earn and same is the case here.

The only way to do things is to do them without cheating.
Honesty and hard work will ALWAYS pay in the long run - both online and off!

There does seem to be a general idea that all you have to do to earn is join a site and that's it. I remember when I first started my upline on most sites was very communicative. Doesn't seem to be the case now as most just send youa link and vanish. The term 'upline' means nothing more than 'the person who referred you' whereas before they had a role to play. Those type of ads don't help anyone in my opinion.

Yes selling emails is also something that was not being done like it is now when I started. Always best to keep a seperate amail for signing up to sites.

Yes earning online is like earning offline. If you are not able to do a certain job offline then why attempt to do it online? I see many who want to open a ptc site with no business knowledge whatsoever - what the heck??? I can't understand the mentality behind thinking that online everything is easy when everything online is run by people offline - not someone from outerspace!

Someone famous once said "there is no such thing as a free lunch." That man was wise beyond his time. The only way to earn money is to work for it. Anyone who thinks differently is only fooling themselves.

Now on that note I am truly shutting down this computer and going to work or I will never get all my calls done today.

I agree with you completely. That is the reason I have not done referral because after reading what it was I would be selling it did not make sense to me. All I would be selling is someone else system on how they made money. I also would rather have an actual product to sell.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that sees the scam in that.

Indeed once you stop thinking about the earnings then they do seem, by some sort of magic, to increase. Once you stop thinking about how many posts or how many words you are typing and start thinking about having fun, you can see the difference

I can completely understand about family and friends joining because they would like to help and then finding they do not have enough time. I have none of those either here though. The refs I have are all fast asleep from the first day they joined

Oh, the PostMan! Sorry, i got off immediately after submitting my response last night. I just wasn't able to think straight after receiving the sad news that my sis in law cris, hubby's second oldest sis passed away. She had been diagnosed with bone cancer last Feb. The disease actually started in the b*east but she kept quiet about it til the pain has metastasized and became unbearable for her. I am at the office now inspecting some work and just logged in here to check if there's anything from you.

It's nice to sign up under a friend because you know they won't try to scam you and will always make you aware of any pitfalls or problems. Building referrals and friends is great teamwork

If it is teamwork it does work out better.
If the upline is available to help a referral then both will benefit from it because the downline learns what needs doing in order to earn, thus allowing the upline to gain too

Having lots of refs that ar dormant and just make a number is pointless.

That's how it shold be Jhelai so that it is a like a partnership with sides benefitting from it

Free sign-ups are just a list of names which do nothing at all and a waste of time signing up to have them in the first place

I am not active on many other sites either now. I have a couple that I click on while posting here and others that send mails but that's all.

If those lists full of names that then become our sign-ups are fake, then the sites are also full of a lot of dormant members too. Advertisers pay for advertising thinking many users will see it, when really there are only a few clicking. Then a site starts to have problems - and turns scam

Once you have received payment from a site it does indeed make it easier for you to promote it and find others willing to sign up under you. If you also are in contact with them then you can guide them and it a win-win situation for all involved!

Even if you have not tried and tested a site yourself and have payment proof it's always nice to let your referrals know that you haven't been paid yet... maybe because it's a new site? ... but at least you're being open and honest and they can choose whether to sign up or not, but at their own risk.
