One more waste of the hard working tax payers money, screwed the tax payers even in death, the rich getting richer the poor get poorer and so it always has been and will remain to be so,so long Ted!!!

City officials said a federal grant for “urban areas security’’ would cover $400,000 of the cost.

According to the city’s tabulation, Boston spent $359,714 on 629 police officers, $36,748 on 48 firefighters, $29,572 on 55 public health and emergency medical workers, $4,350 on 27 transportation workers, and $1,293 on six public works employees.

The city workers were used to provide security and crowd control during three days of events marking Kennedy’s death: a motorcade with the hearse that carried the late senator’s body through the city on Aug. 27; a public vigil that drew about 50,000 mourners to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum on Aug. 27 and 28; and a funeral Mass at the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Mission Hill on Aug. 29, which drew 1,200 mourners, including President Obama and many other dignitaries requiring protection.

What solution do you propose, Rose, since you object to this so much? Screw all those people who wanted to say goodbye to the last Kennedy brother? To hell with the ones who caught a glimpse of the motorcade as it traveled through the city? And f*$k the funeral? This was a very sad and very historical moment in this country's history, whether you liked Ted Kennedy or not and obviously thousands wanted to say goodbye to him.

Believe it or not Rose, Ted Kennedy did alot for the people of Mass. He was very personable, he helped many vets and their families get the benefits which they deserved, Spalladino I agree with you one thousand percent. This is something that a lot of Massachusetts residents wanted. I had the opportunity to meet Ted Kennedy he presented my son with an award after he and two other teenagers had literally lifted a car off a woman (nurse) and saving her life. He shook my hand and then gave me a big hug and said be proud of this young man. We then had lunch with him. He was a wonderful man and cared about all people both young and old. Did he have a pass of course he did, but dont we all. He lived everyday with haunting of what could have been done, he tried to make up for it every day there after. He influenced many people in such a positive way but you just dont hear enough about that now do you?

Well, if that's what it costs to be done with him, so be it. It marks the end of an era, at least I hope it does. Whatever the image of Teddy was in the rest of the country, many of us here are sick to the teeth of the Kennedy dynasty. JFK was no great shakes either. He was inexperienced and made some big mistakes. He was also morally bankrupt. But even if one were to idolize JFK, they couldn't square that with adulation of Teddy, the two were as far apart politically as Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama.

Free at last... maybe. There's still a few of the progeny who could make political careers but Joe, the most likely candidate, still has the problem of all that oil he gets from Chavez to explain.

I hope we've seen the last of Kennedy's in Washington.
