Wow......43 straight....  email this discussion to a friend?

I come from a rinky dink little town; population under 1000 people within the city limits.
We have very little to offer our young people in the way of entertainment so it's not a big surprise that our sports teams are a big hit with the kids...and the adults who attend.
So I was pleasantly surprised tonight to here of our football team the Rams win their 43rd straight game tonight against the second in state football rivals!
We have had a wonderful decade of wins and successes with this coach and friend Brian. This has made us number 1 in the state in our category....and they have worked so hard to get there.
I was wondering if any other lotters have this particular accomplishment that they can talk about with their sports teams....is your town winning the state games? Are they becoming number 1 in their league?
And do you think a small town stands a better chance or a worse chance in winning state than a bigger city?

I too come from a rinky dink little town, but not nearly as rinky dink as yours - lol. Sorry hornswaggled, I couldn't resist, I have not heard that expression in years...

The larger towns/cities of course have a larger pool of talent to draw from and that does tend to give them an advantage. However, the small town kids have so many fewer other distractions/things to do, and thus tend to pour all their energy/attention into the sport. This in turn, gives them a great advantage.

Here our teams compete with other counties. Overall, it is quite common to see the smaller communities win the tournaments over and over again. I am not saying the always win, but overall, it does appear that they win more frequently.

We too have to travel a great distance to play; sometimes across the state. I don't know how these boneheads did the organizing of the teams; it wasn't that way when I was in school. But this traveling is really a lot of work.
I do hope our team has another perfect season; I guess we'll see!
