cd/ dvd/ stick, " what do you use"???

I had so many records on my computer, that i actually started printing them out, so that i could organize them and keep them on file. I then deleted most of those from my computer. I found that my filing is growing in size, but it's much easier for me to see where i have published content at, and what i am making on each place.

I record my files on DVD or CD.
If I still need some files such as my college tasks or musics, I still keep them in my hard disk but I select files which are important.

I use memory stick with 4gig to store copies of important documents. While I used DVD to record the copies of movies, song and photos slides. Rarely, now I use both, I prefer to uses external hard drives with 500gig, it could hold a lots of storage.

Every so often I'll take everything I want to keep and transfer it to a CD. I didn't think about using a stick, that would certainly be convenient but I don't want to spend the money!

There is a big push here in the states for a company that backs up your PC online so if you have a failure you can go there and recover everything and it does it automatically. But I don't want to pay a monthly fee, nothing I have is that important. Anything vital like pictures I usually transfer right away.

Most of mine are on a USB stick. I have a few CD's also. My son has a communication device that I can load onto using the USB, so I use it more than others.

I burn important documents on CD's. I don't want to risk losing everything if the hard drive died.

I've had that happen twice in my life already. The first time it was from a lightning strike close to where I lived. Apparently, it fried something in my computer and started programs to die, one after the other, including my hard drive in the end.

The second time it was from a person my son knew who apparently had a grudge against him and hacked into my computer, which my son also used at the time. My hard drive was fried then, too. I lost everything.

So, these days I don't take chances. I burn important documents and favorite photographs onto CD's instead of having only one copy on my hard drive. I trust CD's a lot more than I trust a computer hard drive! Besides, with a CD I can view the photographs and documents from any computer. That's always a plus!

I use CDS most of the time for everything to back things up on, but have considered now that they are getting so cheap getting an External hard drive to plug into my Computer to back up everything on. That way I would not have to Write down my addresses before I have to reset my Computer, etc. in case I loose some of them.

I do all my backs on a STICK which I have just done a few days ago, it took a long while but it was worth it.
