The root cause of Typhoon and Flood in our place? Do you know? email this discussion to a friend?

The illegal cutting of trees and improper waste management. Because of this immoral and careless act of people around us. Breathing of Clean Air and drinking of fresh water will soon be numbered. Because of this many of us will be suffering. Even the future children. If we don't act now.

How about you what can you contribute to our Planet to save it from getting worst?

I don't know it seems faster to flood now than before. But initially I guess it's because of the seas that surround us, and because we are small islands.

But lack of drainage in some areas make the floods rise fast even without typhoon.

I don't know about those I see in the TV, that floods are all over the house and you can only see roofs. I think they are in lower places, if we can avoid living in those places. You can see it when you are in an elevated place, like they are living under a bridge because the land is not even in elevation. Some are high and some are low. that is just my opinion or what I believe.

Surely we have contributed to this problem. We can see that people throw their garbage everywhere without considering the effects. As you have said, illegal cutting of tress are rampant and there seems to be no end. So whatever we do with nature, there is always a corresponding effect. I do hope that people will act now before it is too late. Perhaps we can do our part by starting to use things that are not good for the environment, such as plastics, styropor and many other non biodegradable items. happy

typhoons are natural calamities and acts of God. what causes or what contributes to form a typhoon, i am really incapable of answering happy (too technical for my small mind, lol).

floods are firstly caused by the rise of the water level which is caused by heavy rainfall. if water spills out of the rivers and dams, they flood an area. it is a natural phenomenon that water flows swiftly down and gathers in a low area. secondly, humans cause flooding. as u said, deforestation and improper waste management ... these are culprits in floods. people just don't learn how and where to throw their wastes/trash. non-biodegradable waste materials clog up the already-clogged up narrow canals and with the increasing human population, who says that an area is flood-free?

If our government did not open the dam, the flood will not that high. Of course trees that are illegally cut and our trash is the main sources. Global warming is also the cause, because of Global warming we experienced many typhoons. I just heard this statement from NDCC,but honestly i don't know how to explain about Global Warming. I am researching it right now. Contribute? we can start on our own house. We have to segregate our garbage to usable and recycle to non recycled material. We must have to learn to recycle our garbage so that some of it can be used as paper, plastic and some are minerals to our growing crops. We can start on our owh house then community and then all the people. Government should act against illegal logging.

There is a wonderful proverb that seems to be appropriate to this discussion
"Only when the last tree has died, the last river poisoned, and the last fish caught, will we realize we cannot eat money"
People too often to pursuit economical gains spoil out world, making it unsuitable for life in the long term.

I try to reduce my impact as much as i can, i dispose properly of waste, recycling all that i can, and try to avoid consumerism, things are changed when they don't work anymore and can't be repaired, not because there is a new model on the tv commercials!
