Do you talk on the phone when it is storming?

by the way you shouldn't ask so many questions. i forget why but it won't add too much to your earnings your posting to questions has to be more than how many discussions you have a day. if you have a question save it for later. you have over 10 questions on one page. if you don't be careful you might end up like me....run out of things to ask.

anyway back to your question i do talk on the phone when it storms i talk to my mom telling her to get on safe because she was in a real bad car accident one time trying to rush home because i was scared. and i'm not scared of getting shocked because i never heard of any cases of that happening

I try not to talk on the phone when it's storming, but I have done. My grandmother would have had a fit for this. According to my late grandmother, you didn't stand near a window during a storm. You didn't run outside when there was thunder or lightning. Most of all, you didn't talk on the phone when it was storming. I've been guilty of all of these things at one time or another. Don't tell on me.

My grandmother never let anybody talk on the phone during a storm, and my mom and uncle used to laugh at her until years later they found out she was right. We try to avoid the landline during storms, but I'm pretty sure cell phones are relatively safe. That said, we do get some news stories about cell phone batteries catching fire when they overheat, so who knows how safe anything is these days?

No, I never talk on the phone when it's storming. When I was a child I saw first hand exactly how dangerous that can be. We were sitting in the living room and the storm was raging outside. Lightning struck the phone pole across the street and it travelled down the phone line. Imagine our shock when the telephone exploded right in front of us! Unless it was a dire emergency, like a relative having a heart attack or something, I would never use the phone during an electrical storm. While I realize that our phone exploding like that could be considered a 'freak accident', none-the-less, it still proves that it can and does happen. Better to be safe than sorry!

Of course I do. I've heard rumors of people getting shocked or short-circuting their phones, but I don't believe them.

I do not call anyone on the phone if it is lightning out. If though someone I know calls I will answer the phone and talk to them but not for very long. I have hear that also you should not be on the phone when it is lightning and thunder. I will have to check and see if there has even been anyone shocked or zapped from talking on the phone.

I do talk on the phone when it's storming...but you're very right . . it can be dangerous...I'll avoid doing so in future.

Hi tuckersheri, no I don't do that at all as as soon as it starts lightening outside I unplug the telephone as previously the phone line has been struck by lightening twice disconnecting my service. Also when it's storming then I wouldn't be able to use the mobile anyway as I only get a reception on it here if I go outside and hang over the edge of the balcony which I wouldn't much fancy doing in the middle of a thunderstorm.

Haha.. I'm a daredevil and i do continue talking on the phone even when it's lightning and there's storm, [only if it's lightning somewhere in far off place or state!] . Oh, even when it's in my home town too, i do, [ Again, only if i'm not in my home town when that happens!] . Oh yeah, I do even if i'm there in my home town and if it's lightning, [ Truely speaking, only if the phone is disconnected!].
You are right it's very dangerous to use the phone while it's lightning there and even if there's a strong storm and all. I have heard about such accidents that even cost someone their life! So, everyone, be careful.

Is it dangerous if we talk on the phone at home while it is storming? How about in the car?
