Hello nanayangel,
Yes, I have received food as a gift several times. It might be on my birthday, or Mother's day, or Christmas. I appreciate the gift, and I enjoy it a lot. Giving food on a Christmas is common. It's like a give away. Safest gift ever.
But I would appreciate more if I would be given a gift that I can keep and treasure longer or even forever.
I, myself, seldom give food as gifts, I'd rather give the person a token like figurine, or stuffed toys, or just something that the person can keep.
Have fun posting!

Hi there Red Amethyst! Thank you very much for your response.
Same here, I love giving gifts that can be used and kept by the receiver, so that he or she can always remember me when the person see my gift.

Yes!! I have received food as a gift!! and I don't mind receiving them =)) I think it's the most practical gift anyone could give =) and since I love eating I very much entertain those gifts =))) what matters to me is the "thought" of someone.. as an old cliche would say it, 'it's the thought that counts' anyway... =) So yeah I don't mind receiving foods as a gift =))))

Hi there Cecille Carmela! Thank you very much for your response.
You're right. It's the thought that counts. And almost everybody love eating and it really is practical as a gift because food is one of the basic necessities so it's most likely to be consumed unlike some material things that were left alone when the receiver did not need or like it.

Hi, nanayangel
Cakes are the usual food gift I receive. As for chocolates, I often receive them as pasalubong from friends and relatives who live abroad. Both are always welcome. It is good to receive them since I can share them with whoever is present at the moment.
Cheers!

Oh, the same way goes for us whenever there's a "Balik-bayan" from our family, they make sure that they have lots of chocolates to give away when they visit home.

I don't think I've had food as gift before. However, now that we know better, we will look forward to receiving and eating some dark chocolate. Now that I thought it over, actually I have received boxes of chocolate as gifts before. So I will say yes.

Wow! Dark chocolate! I just received some in a care package sent by my aunts and uncles from the US. Chocolates really make good presents.

Food as a gift is really nice. I like receiving food as well instead of the usual gifts. I like chocolates, cakes, candies and cookies. Before I received a box of candy from my boss and I really appreciate it because it my favorite chocolate candy. And I usually find it really sweet and thoughtful if someone give me some food treats as a gift.

I like receiving food as a gift. Gifts not only have to be things that you can keep, but also things that you can enjoy! Also if you receive cakes you can share it with the person who gave it to you, so I see it as a good idea
. I have given food as a present myself too.

Hi there Jolope! Thank you very much for your response.
I also love getting cakes. Right now, I want to have something that I saw from TV which was the White Forest by Red Ribbon. I don't like heavy chocolate flavor and the White forest sounds really good for me.

Dear friend,
I do had mostly got chocolates as gifts and cakes especially during Christmas and birthdays. It is really a pleasure to receive gifts from loved ones. Occasions and quality of food are also to be considered. It is really nice to get gifts from those loved ones.

Hi there Shamrack! Thank you very much for your response.
You're right. And if also I am good in baking, I would choose to bake something for my loved ones and give them as a gift on some occasions.

It is not common in my country to give food as a gift. The only food item people usually give as gift is choclate. I got choclate as gifts sometimes from my friends, but I have never given in back. I also don't prefer any food item as gift (choclatess is ok). I am a person who is not good at selecting gifts. My friends always help me in selecting gifts for my friends and family.

Hi there Shell Back! Thank you very much for your response.
I am also from the Philippines and you're right. It's a common practice here. I also remember that my Aunt made a note about food given as a gift by suitors that the one to whom it was given too should not partake in the food. It was just a joke, though.
