If your good at chess does that mean your smart?

Alot of intelligent people don't play chess. Chess is just a strategy game, it may come in handy for the future and it IS a logical form of learning, same with math.
And to tell you im not good with math but i can be better in some stuff. LOL

I think that people that play chess are smart. It is a game of logic and strategy but also you have to take into account your opponent. Is the person you play, an aggressive player or conservative player? You can tell usually after the first few moves and that changes your strategy. You are constantly thinking, anticipating and planning as you play and that all involves intelligence. Academic success or failure in this case isn't always contingent on laziness, I have heard very intelligent people say that the pace of their academic learning was too slow and they got bored or they were to confined from the structure, etc. whatever reasons but not because they were lazy. Take Einstein for example, he dropped out of high school, he took an entrance exam for an Institute in Zurich but failed. He went back to a Swiss high school to get his diploma which allowed him entranced to the Institute but teachers did not distinguish his intelligence and his prospects for further academia was poor, yet we honor him as one of the most intelligent individuals that lived and I believe no one can say he was lazy.
