Do you fear death? |
|
Recently a friend told me that he had no fear of death and it got me wondering just how many people could actually say that? My friend had been in hospital in intensive care when a member of the clergy came to visit him. As the minister was leaving, she turned to him and said, "I came to comfort you, but you have given me comfort instead". I believe the old saying, "the coward dies a thousand deaths, the brave die but once". What say you?

Pose123 (5815) | 3 months ago | Hi forestgold, Thank you for sharing your thoughts and I believe that many people feel as you. We cannot decide the way we are to die but hopefully we will not suffer. As for leaving our children, if they are grown, it is not so difficult in my opinion. They too will follow in their turn. Blessings.

Pose123 (5815) | 3 months ago | Hi Misterwit, Thank you for sharing your thoughts and I agree with your comments. I have three children and I don't want to outlive them, neither would I want to outlive all my friends. I am in no hurry to die but I know my time will come sometime and like you I would not want to suffer a lot of pain. Dying is simply a part of living and we should accept it as such. Blessings.

But when it come to death everybody will distance from it. Anyway I fear death. Sometimes I used to think about the death and it is horrible for me. All ways it is painful and terrible when I am thinking about my kids.

Pose123 (5815) | 3 months ago | Hi mdvarghese, Thank you for sharing your thoughts but I'm not sure that everyone fears death. When our kids are grown with families of their own, we will still love them but must leave them to make their own decisions. We must all die a physical death, everyone has a right to their own opinion as to whether that is the end or if there is more life. Since death must come to everyone, I think that it's best to accept the fact but not think a lot about it. Blessings.

4. Mirita (1608) | 3 months ago | Well, I'm not scare of death, but I'm really curious about what happens after a person dies. If you look at a dead person for several minutes, you will noticed that nothing is there anymore except the body. This is why I love the possibility of reencarnation because it means that we can go on forever and death doesn't really exist.

Pose123 (5815) | 3 months ago | Hi Mirita, Thank for your comment. Of course the body is not us and the energy that was that person has now changed form. We are spiritual beings having a human experience and I feel certain that we have all had hundreds and more. I believe that you are right, there is no death-it does not exist. We just move out of an old shell that has served its purpose. Blessings.

faikeijames (186) | 3 months ago | You know that is so true. I am amazed by someone's death and the questions that remain after they're gone. I go to a website called findadeath.com, but it's for celeberties. It's very interested.

wolfie34 (13891) | 3 months ago | Love the avatar!!!! Shame there isn't a site you can look up your old school friends and enemies to see if they have passed away. I know that sounds wicked but I would smile if I found out one of my bullies who had tormented me for so long had died! I believe in karma and I hope they have got theirs by now for what they put me through but I am not around to see or hear if they did!

Pose123 (5815) | 3 months ago | Hi wolfie, Thank you for coming here and yes I believe we think much alike. I do feel that it's too bad that the churches have instilled so much fear in people. I think that we may choose the details about our birth and death, but the curtain has been drawn and we don't remember while we are here. Blessings.

7. faikeijames (186) | 3 months ago | First, I hope your friend is ok and out of ICU. I think it depends on if your heart is right with God. Since I'm a Christian, I believe that you find peace whenever it's your time to go.

Pose123 (5815) | 3 months ago | Hi faikeijames, Thank you for you comment and yes my friend is now out of hospital and doing well, thank you for asking that as well. He doesn't attend any church, but tells me that he finds peace from reading the Bible and from personal prayer. Blessings.

faikeijames (186) | 2 months ago | That's good to hear. I believe you don't have to be a religous church-goer to believe or to find peace with God. Please continue to keep encouraging your friend...everybody could use a little.

8. wanghui0210 (160) | 3 months ago | I did fear death, and I guess most people in this world might fear death. If we died, we would not be able to be with our family, do something for them. We also would not be able to do so many our favorite things. It is awful. I love this world and I love my family, I don't want to lose them. That is the main reason that I don't want to die. How abou you? Best regards.

Pose123 (5815) | 3 months ago | Hi wanghui, Thank you for your comment. It is natural to want to stay with those you love. I agree that I want to stay here as long as I'm healthy and enjoying life but I wouldn't want to live if I was in pain or was a burden to my family. I believe that life continues and perhaps we can still be near our family and help watch over them. Anyway when this body is worn out I know I want a new one. Blessings.

9. sid556 (10777) | 3 months ago | I actually am not afraid of death itself. It is the process of getting there that has me kind of worried. I will tell you that I never ever felt this way until I cared for my mom who to be honest...lost all her dignity in the long process. Fortunately, she did not realize that she appeared to be crazy to her friends and family. Had she had one ounce of her right mind, she would have been mortified as to how she appeared to others in the final months of her life. I felt so so bad about it that I kind of sheltered her from outsiders other than a few close family and friends. She got extremely mean also. It was really really hard to deal with. I decided then and there that I never ever ever want my daughters to go thru what my brother and I went thru towards the end of her life. I'm not 100% sure I could prevent it. My daughters swear that they would take care of me no matter what if I needed help as I get older. I don't want that for them or for myself. I hope and pray that when I go...it is quick and sudden like my dad went. I don't want a long drawn out death...it is horrible for the family. I think assisted suicide should be legalized. I know my mom would have chosen that way out had she known how it would drag out.

Pose123 (5815) | 3 months ago | Hi sid, Thank you for commenting and I can understand. My brother who is 83 lives with his daughter who is determined not to put him in a home although things have gotten rather difficult for her and her family now. I will be 70 next month and although I am quite healthy, I realize that I may someday be the situation that your mom was in and I don't want that. I too think that assisted suicide should be legalized. Blessings.

ced_cap (168) | 3 months ago | I agree with you ckyera...death for us believers is victory because it means we finished our race here in the world. WE just have to wait for the second coming of Jesus Christ for He will take us all believers to heaven to be with Him and Our Creator. (you know the verse huh...BRAVO ckyera!!!)

Pose123 (5815) | 3 months ago | Hi ckyera, Thank you for commenting and it's good that you have no fear of death. I was just thinking that there should be no fear of leaving your loved ones behind either, because the same God who cared for you will also care for them. Blessings.
