He is a noted lawyer who goes to the U.K. to defend cases. A brilliant man who made a promise that he did not keep. I am afraid that I was very unkind and regret the things that I said in the accompanying email. Maybe it is because I am tired ans=d stressed out. Life would be so much easier for me if this was sorted out. I wan to sell about 15 0r 20 acres to a housing developer so I would get cash from it. There would still be over 60 acres left for th children. He has let me down. Big time. I reminded him that he offered to draft the will and said that the would take care of myself and Rachel. Yes, he adores her but he was done sweet Fanny Adams to help us. I have had it. I did not ask him for anything - he offered to his dying friend. This is what realkly gets to me. Having to deal with my boss when I could perhaops be at home just doing my part time jobs.

I'm sure it was intended kindly, but a person shouldn't make a promise and then not follow through on it. So, I guess you're probably going to need to find yourself another lawyer. I hope it gets sorted out soon. It may be good for candy bar sales, but it certainly isn't good for you!

Yikes. I saw your response below. I don't suppose there's some legal way (without bankrupting yourself) that you can get the papers back and get somebody else named (assuming this doesn't light a fire underneath him)?

What is really killing me is that I do not know where the title to the land is. y husband left me in debt and I have worked 3 jobs ever since. I paid off all the debts with my children's help and the bank was instructed to send the title to him. This wa about 5 years ago. Not too sure wihtout looking at the file. He cannot tell me where the title is. I need the title before I can sell land and it must be in my name. This is so disrtessing. I write emailksm I call and call. Nothing has been doen. Sometimes I even forget what stage it has reached!

Thanks Kat. he needed a jolt but I was so unkind. I really was saying that he was killing me with stress and would next see the picture on a funeral programme. Feel so guilty as I was unkind. But am rally suffering,. I had better not post until the meeting is over and I know if I still have a job.

He was such a good friend of our family. No, he is not getting any money as the farm is in ruin ate at he present. We do not have the money to develop it. Interest rate is 27 percent out here

He has all the paper work and my husband appointed him to be executor so I cannot change lawyers.But thanks for your suggestion. I was horrible in doing what I did but it may shake him up. Blessings and thanks for your good wishes. I am having a bad week but I will get through it.

I don't think you are horrible at all, you have been far more patient than I could have been.

I guess we are fortunate here - Executors are bound by law to handle issues in a "timely and reasonable" manner.

He called me today and he was very quiet and just said that he would email me. I know that I have hurt him deeply - but I am hurt too. Working 3 jobs paying stamp duty and transfer tax and well as death duties. I did not like my action but maybe he will get serious now.

You may very well have hurt him, but he has hurt you too. I am not saying two wrongs make a right, because I don't believe in that. What I am saying, is that no matter how good and just we try to be, sometimes, enough really is enough. No hard feelings or harm intended; more like survival and finding peace. There is nobody who could (or would) fault you for doing what you had to do.

Thank yo so much for your comforting words. I am going to give him a week and then call him suggesting that he is really too busy to look after this so can he please hand over the papers and title to me. Our friendship will be sorely tested as I am good friends with his wife and children. It is so sad.

The difference her is that he is the executor of my husband
s estate. And had done diddly squat witht he government agencies. It should have been completed years ago. I am glad tha tyou pestered your one until he caved in. Isn't iot awful?

I can understand him having other things to worry about, but it being nine years ago, I can understand you being tired of it all. I just hope you can get this settled. When I mentioned your son tagging along, let me please clarify by saying I don't think your not competent to talk to your lawyer, but more so that the lawyer may listen more to a man, which I know is wrong of me to think... He may also be able to convince the lawyer that you would really just like to get things settled. You need these settled for a meeting coming up correct?

Sorry for blabbing, I just felt I needed to clarify, I know I can be very confusing, very judgemental, which is bad too...

somehow I have just managed to delete my response to you. No apologies are necessary at all. I took my eldest so to see him and we had a meeting about 2 years ago and he apologized and said that he would speed things up! Well - it hasn't happened. I go through life never hurting people and I still feel so badly that I did this. My children could not believe it. I feel awful but I have to fight for what is mine and think of my children. One of my sons has learning disabilities and will always need help from his siblings. I am doing this so my children will not be left in a mess like I was left in a mess.

No, he is not ripping me off as there is just the farm and no money. My Husband was very ill for years before he died and all of our savings went to keeping him alive. I think that he will move now. I am waiting to hear from him. I will let you all know what is happening., Many thanks for your very kind input. He is the naed executor and that is why I cannot change lawyers easily. It would have to go to court and I could not bear that
