We just took our first trip to New Orleans. What a great value for your money. We stayed in the French Quarter and were able to walk to the majority of attractions. The New Orleans power pass offers you a terrific value by providing entrance to a large number of local attractions and tours. You can ride the paddle boat on a two hour cruise on the Mississippi while having lunch and/or dinner. They have a great aquarium and IMAX theater. The River walk is beautiful and relaxing. The French market and flea markets are fun with lots of bargains awaiting. Don't miss out on a class at the Louisiana School of Cooking. Fun and delicious. Lots of historic houses and buildings to visit. We were there for 6 days and still couldn't get it all done. The only thing you need to rent a car or get a ride to are the bayou and plantation tours. The tour companies offer transportation to and from these events. I can't wait to return. The music on Bourbon St. was fantastic. Being out and about on Bourbon St. was great - I did not feel at all in any danger. Police presence was strong but not intrusive. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and welcoming. I will be going back and I highly recommend this happening town.
