Intermission or break in during movies in cinemas .. do you agree?

no I would rather not have a break unless it was over 3 hours long

I am not really a fan of cinemas though I used to be when I was a lot younger. Intermissions then were just too long, one can even go out and have a walk outside the cinema. However, talking of intermissions, what came to my mind are the intermissions in National Geographic and Discovery channels. Cutting interesting programs and inserting the same intermissions over and over again. One reason I like watching cable is being able to view uncut films but in some channels they tend to break the program and insert intermissions. I know this is a little off tangent to the point you pointed out in your discussion, I was just inspired after noticing the word intermission. It is related anyway. LOL

Would rather not have a break, and would prefer that everyone remained seated during the film. There is plenty of time to get drinks, food and go to the toilet before the film starts.

I once went to the cinema where there was an intermission after the previews and before the film started, seemed to be a pointless exercise.

I thought your question would be that "is it right for the breaks\intermissions to be there in the movie".Its becoz,here in India we have intermissions to get eatables or refreshment for ourselves.
The intermission is for about 10-15 minutes and thats enough for anyone.I like these intermissions becoz its time for us to get our chips, cold drinks etc.
and in the rest of the movie,we eat and watch with fun.

I think it would not be a good idea having breaks in between the movies in cinemas because if there would be breaks people would usually go at the same time to the restroom and get crowded in there which i think would cause also delays for them to return in their seats especially if there are lots of people who would be using the restroom. I also think that people should grab all the snaks they would need when they go in the cinema to avoid hassle and i think it is not necessary to always have something to eat which watching a movie.
Another point is that,people usually prefer watching movies in cinemas because there are no commercials in cinema movies. I usually would prefer watching movies in DVD since i could always pause the movie if ever i would like to go to the restroom or if i would like to grab some snacks and just proceed after with the movie without missing any scenes. hehe..

I agree with you.
I was not excited to continue watching a movie if I've missing any parts of scenes from the movie. Think that no perfect lol.
But if that happens I'll leave the cinemas or turn the cinemas into a place for making out with my girlfriend.

Well if the film is really long like the lord of the rings for example, then yes I think that the cinemas should hit the pause button or somthing so people can use the rest room, or get a snack or drink. but if the film isent that long then I think it may not be necessary.

Yes! Even if a film is only an hour and a half, I still find I'm shifting in my seat needing the bathroom. Why? Because they sell you those huge buckets of soft drinks before the movie! I drink half of it while watching trailers, I finish it within an hour, and I have to sit there because I don't want to miss anything, or make the people next to me get up so I can get out. I usually end up missing 5 minutes of any movie I watch and it really annoys me. I would LOVE to have a 10 minute break halfway through.

Yes It happens to me everytime. But I am habitual of it now.I generally try to find some snacks as fast as possible within 2 minutes of interval or just dont go outside. Also some theatres cut movies in middle because of timing constraints and their schedule procedure to start a new movie.Thanks
