CHRISTMAS 82 Day's Early!!!!!!

No kids, hence, no grand kids - I seldom decorate for xmas, and really haven't in years now...

If i decorate any this year, it will be without the lights. My sister went throught the lighting faze at Christmas and ended up with an extravagant light bill. One that most of us consider a rent payment. Of course, she did have all the wonderland visitors driving by for a look, but she tired of all that after a few years of having such a high light bill. However, it is nice to look at, and it's also nice of them to give out gifts to the children.

Cute story. great for those people who love Christmas. I am not a Christmas person so no, I would not do anything like this even if I had the money.

I have been so sad and depressed lately that's exactly what I need. I wish christmas was like it was when I was little. We decorated the tree as a family. We spent christmas eve with my mom's family and christmas day with my dads. We were allowed to open one present when we got home. Usually it was our christmas pajamas. Now adays its not the same. I try to make it nice for my kids but I just cant afford to do what my parents have done. The fact that these grandparents go all out for their grandchildren and make sure that no one is left out is the best. I wish I could be there to see there faces. Christmas is magic. It brings out the best in people. I only wish we could put up the lights and get some christmas magic around here. If I had the means I would decorate my entire house from top to bottom. I would do the bedrooms and everything. I would adopt a family if you will.Or at least make some less fortunate children have as many special memories as I did. Mr and Mrs Maw remind me of a couple of families not too far from where we live. They do similar things to their house; their places are so well decorated and so much work has gone into them that TV crews film them each year. The families turn their homes into magical wonderlands too and they collect money for the children’s hospital from all the visitors who come along each night to see. There is usually a competition each year for the best decorated house and we have never been in the running because all we do is put up a Christmas tree!

I give to a lot of charities, not so much the decorations. I like to help people make and come up with unique decorations, though. I have five foreign charities through my church that will help children. Locally we do a gift basket of non food items, because everyone else gives food for the holidays. We buy shampoo and personal care items and blankets. One year our church gave away beds. I like belonging to a group that does something positive.

I think it is great, I read the article and read some of the comments about them being the "Neighbors from hell", but I would enjoy the holidays with them if I were their neighbors.. I love the holidays and would do this if I could, but after a certain amount of lights on the house and fence, the breakers kick and some of the strings of lights go out.. That is when the fun starts at my house, my husband starts ranting and raving, and I can't mention some of the words that he uses while changing another string of lights.. There are days when we go with it half-finished until we can get the energy to try it again..

I am looking forward to this holiday season, the fence row has been cleared of more brush and we have a much longer area to put more lights, I can't wait to see what happens..

I also agree with the Maws that since it takes so long to get all of these lights up, why not make it last longer and enjoy the work that you have had to do.. Good for them..

IN our country, we normally start preparing for christmas only last month. by november people will start buying gifts and decorations for their Christmas Tree and out side the house. we usually put back the decorations a week before christmas day. wow you're so kind giving food for the wild animals, that's the spirit

this is just so great! they are about a month earlier than us as we start puttting up outside around the 1st of Nov.
as it takes awhile to get it all ready and lights in working order. and this is just part of them and one side of the house!
