Can't play games with Windows 7?

About 10 days ago, I got my new laptop, but I heard Windows Vista sucks. So, I want to upgrade to Microsoft's new OS Windows 7.
When I looked at the back of games boxes, and it says: Operating System- Windows Vista/XP. Does this mean I can't play those games with Windows 7?

I've got the different problems with running games on windows 7. Some games can run but most of them are not. The message appears like this " Failed to initialize windows. Please try running the game again. If that doesn't help, try changing the screen resolution and color depth. If that fails, then your video card doesn't support this game." I've tried changing the resolution and color depth but, still having the same problem. I tried to update the drivers by using driver tool exe. but, the driver cannot run bcoz of the fonts. I didn't change any fonts so, don't know why it happens. So, can you help me with this? Thanks alot.

windows 7 has been made to be compatible with windows vista, so there is a big chance that most of it would run under windows 7. i have windows 7 ultimate already and all programs i have on my windows xp sp3 are all working even the games that are yrs old are all still good, i never had installed windows vista though but i liked xp. but now i love windows 7.

well it seems you didn't work on windows 7 yet ,
because windows 7 has special feature called "compatibility mode"
it's function is that you can change it with your choice like if you have a game which supports only windows xp then you have a option at compatibility mode where you can select xp and install the game
likewise windows 7 can be compatible with windows vista,windows xp , windows 98 and Windows ME.
and from my personal experience windows 7 is so far the finest OS made By Microsoft.

I just installed windows 7 Ultimate and also installed games as administrator the games work. But as user they do not work, I get error mession UAC control. I diabled this and still does not work. I have even put the user as administrator and teh games don't work? Does anyone have any ideas? I have even gave the security rights as an administrator.
