Beach Hiking  | |  Some friends invited me on a short beach hike this weekend now that they figured I am somewhat in shape from running and cycling. However, they totally redefined hiking for me. Because when I think of hiking, I'm thinking walking along a dirt trail. Well, this was more like rock climbing! First we had to descend the side of a cliff, then take a path for part way, and then climb over a bunch of rocks. And getting up the cliff again was even harder.
My hiking sandals proved to be pretty good though, since even when wet they had decent grip. I nearly slipped a few times but I think that was mostly due to my ankles not being 100% yet (I sprained them both about 8 weeks ago).
Overall it was a good workout and pretty cool! I'm thinking about trying the same trail again in a couple weeks and bringing a camera along next time. I could have kicked myself for forgetting the camera!

The bus was on the news because the driver didn't know how to put chains on and we were on the edge of a mountain. And then the power was out quite a bit. We hiked through the snow a few times. Which now might have been fun, but then it was really not. The camp burned down a year or two after we went there. | |
