Have you ever recieved award for anything?

In 5th grade I got a medal for my Cocaine report in D.A.R.E, I think that's about it. I've received gift cards for participating in surveys. I think that is about it.

It has been a while since i have been in school, so i will not even try to remember anything i got there, but my work is usually pretty good about recognizing good jobs. It might not be much, but really, just having your work appreciated gives you an awesome feeling.

Where i work we get "thanks a bunch" cards filled out by our managers if we do something above and beyond what is expected,or just do a really good job. These cards are posted on a special board in the employee area for all to see, and many times, if we come in early to cover a shift, or pick up an extra shift, or stay late, we get gift certificates to use at the store where we work (i work in a grocery store by the way) Usually in the amount of 2 or 5 dollars. It might not be much, but you know what, if you save them up, they can take a chunck off my grocery bill..or buy me lunch one day when money is kinda tight...

We also have your typical "associate of the month" program...where other workers have the chance to fill out cards with a persons name, and some exemplary act of service or work that they were seen doing. And once a month a committee meets and goes through the niminations, picks a winner, and they get thier picture and name posted on the wall by the entrance for all to see, they get to pick a special prize from a catalougue (usually a clothing/uniform item embroidered with a special message) and they get to go out to eat with all the other winners from the year with out store manager at the end of the year.

It definately makes people feel good when they are recognized for their hard work, and when people feel good at work, they perform better.
