2. Carrie38 (247) | 3 months ago | Chocolate is very poisonous to dogs. If they get a little piece it won't kill them but if you are feeding it to them on a regular basis, it is bad. Chocolate is not the only thing that is bad for dogs, raisins are very deadly and if a dog is fed them on a regular basis their insides can be destroyed within a year. Also grapes and onions are very bad for dogs. Hope this helps.:-)

3. ChaoticBeauty (202) | 3 months ago | Well, yeah, it's said to be poisonous to dogs. Mine, however, never got that memo and eats chocolate all the time! Not the smartest of animals mind you...she's been eating chocolate since she was about 1-2...she's now 7 years old...alive and spunky as every other min pin...I'm convinced she's immortal!

Care4Pets (156) | 3 months ago | You have an extremely lucky dog then, chaotic. Long-term exposure to toxic foods can severely damage a dog, if not kill it. Does she work as a good luck charm? If so, I suggest you buy a lotto ticket, lol. Best wishes for you & your furry friend!:)

4. Kashmeresmycat (1312) | 3 months ago | Yes, chocolate is very toxic to cats and dogs, and other animals as well. It contains a chemical compound called "Theobromine." The darker the chocolate, such as Baker's Chocolate or baking chocolate contains more cocoa which in turn contains more of the Theobromine, which makes it even more deadlier.
Dogs, cats, and other animals cannot digest this chemical as humans can, and it stays in the bloodstream, damaging the central nervous system and the circulatory system.
It IS deadly for them.

5. LilyoftheThorns (3818) | 3 months ago | Chocolate is not good for your pets, defeniatly don't feed it to them! Chocolate isn't very good for people if they eat too much--so it shouldn't be that shocking that it isn't good for pets!
Our bodies are different then animals and things will effect us differently. Chocolate will effect your pets and they won't live as long and won't be as healthy...
No chocolate! lol

Care4Pets (156) | 3 months ago | Good answer, happy. Always keep in mind too, that sometimes, pets are like kids. Just because your child wants something, doesn't mean you give it to them. Same goes for pets. Best wishes for you & your furry friend!:)

7. uath13 (3860) | 3 months ago | We're omnivorous. Dogs are carnivorous. Our stomachs are far more versatile than theirs though less efficient. Chocolate can wreck havoc on their system often making them sick enough to kill them. They're bodies aren't designed or able to process it so it ends up being toxic. It's kind of like putting diesel fuel into a regular car.

8. Care4Pets (156) | 3 months ago | Chocolate is TOXIC to dogs! Just because you can eat something doesn't mean your pet should...there are many other foods than can be lethal to dogs as well including onions. Do a search online, read up on the facts and protect your dog! I work for a local vet clinic...believe me, dogs CAN DIE from eating chocolate!
P.S. This is a great site to use as a resource: www.dog-first-aid-101.com/toxic-foods.html If you scroll down just a bit, the 2nd one of that page is chocolate and it gives you all the detailed explanation as to why it is a no-no for dogs.
Best wishes for you and your furry friend!:)

9. froggieslover (1309) | 3 months ago | I am not quite sure but I have always been told that chocolates are very dangerous to dogs. I am not sure if it is all chocolates and how little or large it takes to harm then but I have just never cared to take a chance so I have never given my dog any sorts of chocolate small or large......simple answer to your question is we are human not animals...are insides are different=)
