Pastor with guns, where is his faith!!! |
|
I was watching CNN yesterday and heard a piece of news that I found somewhat unusual .There was a pastor in Chicago pulled a gun on a man who was robbing the church, can you imagine .When asked he said the church was his flock and he is supposed to protect them .Now I am not very familiar with scriptures but I am pretty sure that in the bible it says "that though should not kill" and I am thinking that having a gun represents and intent to kill or harm.I am also thinking that a pastor should have enough faith to prtect the flock and himself by enveloping thmeselves in prayer Consequently what are the issues at play here . Is this pastor lacking in faith and prefers to put his faith in guns?.Does his reason have merrit and do we need external sources of protection along with faith, can these two idealogies coexist or is it a situation of if you have faith then you need nothing else? Another consideration is how would you feel if you were a member of his flock?.Could you truts him wholeheartedly after knowing that?

What is good is that nobody was harmed in the process and the flock of this Church are not robbed. It may be different if you are there in his place. But during that time, that happened and we cannot change what happened. I'm sure you will have a better alternative if that happens to your family. Good day.

ronnyb (2557) | 2 months ago | Maybe you are right and I would feel different if I was in the position but I still feel as if something is wrong with him having a gun.I am judging him and I am not a saint but I expect more from a pastor .Personally I think that even iof he has a gun he still cannot guarnatee that it will protect his flock as there are only a limited number of bullets in the gun and being a mechanical device mad eby man it means it can fail.I would like to think that the protection of of God .I respect your views but I tsill maintain mine .have a good day my friend and thanks much for responding

3. rusty2rusty (4187) | 2 months ago | I don't think the pastor is lacking in faith. I do however think the pastor knows where he lives and serves a church in a high crime ridden area. So, he isn't being stupid. He is being smart. Not only going to protect the church but himself as well. I lived in a pretty quiet area. Than moved to another state in an area that was very high crime. I didn't know it at the time. I have three kids to protect...sadly my oldest has picked up the ways of the streets. I believe in God and have faith he will protect me and my family. But that does not mean I lack the faith by buying a gun to protect me or my family from crime. That means I am being smart enough to protect my family. One thing you have to consider if the criminal does not believe in God, he still has free will to do what he pleases. So, even if ask God not to have the criminal shoot. The criminal still has free to shoot if he so chooses. As God does not mess with free will.

ronnyb (2557) | 2 months ago | Hmm a well thought out answer adn I was almost convinced believe me almost but there is one question I ask though hwo would he feel if he killed someone who was robbing him,I mean that person is bad but does he deserve death,so I thats why I am saying why not pray to God and let him take over the situation becasue if God doesnt mean for it to happen it wont .There was a householder some months ago who had a gun and was being robbed,he took out his gun and in a haste to use it slipped and accidentally shot one of his daughter who was alos being robbed so I am saying that even if you have a gun it doesnt mean you will be safe, you are safe if you are in Gods hands .Great answer though and thank youso much for always responding .
