Has Anyone Told You That You Remind Them Of An Actor or Actress? |
|
At the end of my second psychology lesson a girl came over to me, remember there is 17 women in the class and just me, one guy and said that I reminded her of Owen Wilson!!!!!
I didn't know how to take it, whether it was a compliment or not, and I was at a loss for words, I sort of muttered 'is that a good thing?'
I was trying to recall Owen Wilson and I asked her what he had starred in she said 'Wedding Crashers' then it clicked, I linked Owen Wilson with Ben Stiller then it came to me 'Night at the Museum' wasn't he the cowboy?
I then asked why I reminded her of Owen Wilson, she said because I was funny??? again I wondered if she was being uncomplimentary to me? But then I always think the worst, being the negative kind of person I am.
I wonder what made her come up to me and say that? weird or what?????
So has a stranger ever come up to you and said that you remind them of an actor or actress on the big silver screen?

1. msfrancisco9369 (2137) | 3 months ago | I would humbly say YES! I used to received compliments like that being associated with an actress or me reminding them about a character and an angle of an action. The last comment that i received was, I look-like Eva Green of Casino Royal (me having fair skin, round eyes and curly long hair). My hubby used to tease me as Julia Roberts (Curly Hair like that of "Pretty Woman") and the looks of Linda Hamilton (especially when i am wearing sunglasses with my curly hair down).
In one of my out of town trips in our country, one of the passengers kept on staring at me and when i asked her if she has a problem, she told me that i look like "Jessa Zaragoza" a popular singer in our country.
I am quite uncomfortable in sharing this but thanks anyway for the chance.

2. scheng1 (1690) | 3 months ago | My lecturer said that I remind her of a singer. The problem is that the singer is either very old or dead now. My lecturer is at least thirty years older than me. Her idol was at least twenty years older than her. I dont feel very flattered by the comment. Many Filipina maids think I look like Filipina, some even approached me when I was window shopping. They spoke to me in their language. When I start to speak, then they realized they make a mistake.

3. dodo19 (4306) | 3 months ago | I actually have. There was a point in my teens, when my dad and my sister said that they thought I looked like Liv Tyler. I don't think I do at all, but they said that they thought that my eyes and my lips looked a lot like Liv Tyler's. I'm not sure what made them think so, but either way, it's what they said. It's the only time that someone ever told me that they thought I looked like an actress or anything like that.

wolfie34 (13881) | 3 months ago | Did you think at the time it was a compliment to be compared to her?
| |
|
|
dodo19 (4306) | 2 months ago | Well, I'm not really sure, as I really didn't think that I did look like her. Now that I think of it, it was certainly intended as a compliment.

6. ShepherdSpy (2479) | 3 months ago | I'm thinking if a Girl comes over to talk to you and Mentions She thinks You're Funny and bear a resemblance to Owen Wilson, just roll with it and see where it gets You! Me,I'd consider an opener like that an icebreaker and an invitation to talk more with Her..
| |
| |
|
|
SomeCowgirl (8169) | 3 months ago | I didn't think about that but yea, It sure does sound like flirtation. If your single, I'd go for it Wolfie! Talk to her next time and see where it goes from there.

wolfie34 (13881) | 3 months ago | Girls ain't interested in me in that respect, girls don't look twice at me, but after reading the responses I feel it was a compliment rather than a criticism, probably because I have blond hair, when I get my hair cut I will cut all the blond out so I won't look like him any more LOL!

ShepherdSpy (2479) | 3 months ago | You're a College Aged Guy in a 17:1 ratio class..You may think Girls have no interest in You as Yet,but unless You have shown absolutely no interest in them, there's probably at least one somewhere out there prepared to take an interest in You,Whether You're Blond or Not..Why change hair colour in the first place if You didn't want to stand out and get noticed by them?

7. winddancer1323 (169) | 3 months ago | You should be flattered that you reminded her of Owen. I think he's really cute in a boyish, charming, and sincere kind of way. Plus he's funny without being too over the top, and seems like he would be a fun person to be around.
People tell me that I look like Freida Pinto from Slumdog Millionaire. My family, my friends, and even strangers from the grocery store stop just to tell me that I look like her. I guess it's a good thing, since other people find her attractive, but me personally, not so much.

8. SomeCowgirl (8169) | 3 months ago | I have been told that I sound like I'm an Englishwoman but never that I looked like anyone, not that I recall. Owen Wilson is a very good looking actor, so I would definitely take that as a compliment. Didn't he also play in Marley and Me? Well In any case, I thought I'd respond as I thought you had a very interesting encounter.
| |
| |
|
|
wolfie34 (13881) | 3 months ago | Yes I heard that today too, Marley and Me, I haven't seen the film, I do remember him in Night at the Museum but he's not an actor I am particular fond of or like. I enjoyed the film though. But I guess after reading the responses it was a compliment rather than a criticism.
| |
|
|
SomeCowgirl (8169) | 3 months ago | Oh okay, yea I haven't Seen Owen in that many films but I'm not sure about him myself. I think that sometimes women can go more on looks though, so I'd defintely take it as a compliment in that regard!

9. cloudwatcher (3434) | 3 months ago | I've never heard of Owen Wilson, so I can't comment on that, but it is no surprise that she approached you. I know you say you are a different person on line and I can understand that, but I'm sure some of the qualities you show here would also show in real life. Your caring, sensitive nature would make you very approachable, and your lack of boldness would make you "safe" to approach.
No, no one ever told me I looked like a movie star. When I was a teen, I wanted to be like Arlene Dahl or Maureen O'Hara or any of the beautiful red headed actresses. I had the hair, but nothing else, so I could only dream.
In my adult life I have very often been compared with someone who is not an actress - though she is more in front of the people than any actress - someone who lives in your city most of the time. I certainly wouldn't want her job, though. I think she has the most difficult job in the world, and she has it for life.

wolfie34 (13881) | 3 months ago | I am glad now that I started this discussion I see the remark as a compliment because whenever someone speaks to me I always look for the negative and I think people are trying to be nasty or horrid to me, that's why I avoid them.

cloudwatcher (3434) | 3 months ago | I relate to that wolfie, because it is exactly the way I was years ago - and still am to a degree.

wolfie34 (13881) | 3 months ago | It must be an inbuilt defence mechanism that we have, either that or we carry around hurts which never truly heal.
| |
|
|
cloudwatcher (3434) | 3 months ago | A little bit of both possibly. My hurts were healed long ago, but 22 years of conditioning is hard to break completely. I will seldom make a first approach. I wait for the other person to talk first, or to show signs of wanting communication.
