Well, I have heard that most mothers will start to fall lots of hair when the baby is about three months old. I started to fall hair when my baby was three months old too. I kept falling lots of hair easily until my baby was about five months old, and it slowly went back to normal. One of my friends has started to fall hair recently and her baby is about 3 months old too, and she is quite worrying that she'd become bald as her hair keep falling. I do not know how I can help her, as I didn't really find the hair fall issue disturbing me. Did you have the same issue? Will the problem be solved by itself after a few months later? Did you take any minerals or vitamins to help hair falling?

Yes I did have a hair loss problem after my delivery to my first son. I went almost bald on my forehead. It was really irritating and shameful. I just can't recall when it started. That hair loss only happens on my first deliver, I didn't have the same problem with my second baby thou I experienced a little falling hair but very tolerable.

Hi there, thanks for your response. I didn't know the hair loss issue can go to that extent, that's what my friend is worrying - bald. Especially when she wants to start working and go out, she feels embarrassed. That's good that you didn't have the same problem for your second baby. Happy parenting! ^_^

I was under medication with my first pregnancy for I had a pre-eclamsia... Maybe that was the side effect. Im not sure... but my sister and my friends did not had a hair loss problem to that extent too. So I assumed it was really the cause of it..

I never noticed this right after having my children but I do know that I have been losing a lot more hair through the years since having children. Remember our hair texture does change as we get older and we'll start to lose more hair. I take a multivitamin every day but I don't think that makes a difference with the hair coming out. I think eating more carbohydrates and foods with Vitamin E help.

I never had a problem with my hair falling out. I took pre-natal vitamins during pregnancy and my doctor put me on other vitamins after delivery. Maybe that's why I didn't lose any hair? Tell your friend to ask her doctor and be sure she is eating a good diet with protein and vitamins--getting enough sunshine is important, too.

Hi there, thanks for your response. I did take some vitamins during pregnancy too, but not after delivery. My friend did ask the doctor, and doctor said it's very common.

With my first child I had hair loss issues before giving birth and around three months after but it went back to normal. With my second child I had the same issue but after going back to normal I started losing hair again after he was around one year and I do get some hair back but not all. I don’t know if it has to do with childbirth or with all the stress that I am having. I am drinking so vitamins that supposedly are for hair, skin, and body so far I have not been able to drink them every day because I keep forgetting so I don’t know if they are going to work. I hope that everything will go back to normal for both of us.

Hi there, thanks for your response. You even had hair loss problem before giving birth? Is it because you did not take enough minerals for yourself during the pregnancy? I understand the "forget" part, I always forget to take any vitamins. Happy parenting! ^_^

I think the hair loss is due to the changes in the hormones that the mother's body encounters. I had hair loss too during and after my pregnancy. I don't really know when it finally stopped because having long hair, I still have falling hairs once in a while but not as many as when I just gave birth. Maybe your friend should consult her OB, so that she will know if her hair loss is still normal and if she should be taking vitamins or applying something on her scalp for her hair.

Hi Kaka, I never face hair falling at the time of pregnancy. But after the delivery I lost much hair, I think it is because of the hormonal changes especially with boy-kids. One of my friends told me that if the baby is girl then you will loss hair at the time of pregnancy and the baby is boy then you will loss hair after delivery. I am not sure about this, I think it varies with persons.

My hair is really thick and to be honest I have never really noticed. I have heard it does affect most woman if it is really bad, she had better go to the doctors to get herself checked out.

Hi kaka135. I am quite sensitive to issues when it comes to hair loss. To answer your question, yes, I have encountered hair loss but not due to delivery. I have not been married and no kids. The result of my hair loss was due to my negligence in following the directions of a hair dyeing solution. I know that my response maybe out of topic since it deals with moms who have experienced the same. My only difference is that I am not a mom myself. I guess in your case, it could just be a normal occurrence and it will be back to normal. I lost 90% of my hair and gained it back only after 7-8 months. It was dreadful. I have learned my lesson the hard way.

I think that vitamin that is recommended by doctor will help. Recently, I find out something that is natural and no side effect but it help hair grow. It is aloe vera juice from the aloe vera plant. I try the aloe vera gel, but it is not 100% natural. Therefore, I bought an aloe vera plant to get the juice for helping the hair growth. Try to squeeze the juice and put it on the top of hair scalp daily for 30 mins before washing hair. In order to see result, you need to be persistence for 30- 60 days. You will find out hair will start to grow. just try to see whether this method will be suitable for you. Sylvia Mak http://wiseparents.net

Nope. When my daughter was born she had a shag and her nails were so long they were bent around her little fingers. I Have always had thick hair and I never noticed any thinnning with the birth of or soon after her delivery. We are a family of thick haired people. I don't recall any bald men either on either side.

Hello, Kaka, I have the problem of hair falling out as well recently, but not when my baby is three months old. I think it may caused by my great pressure, or due to not having enough sleeping. It really bother me when I see my floor with hair every here and there. I cut my hair a week ago, and the problem seems stop. I think your friend may go to cut her hair, it do help. Good luck to your friend.
