Wishing all my Canadian friends "Happy Thanksgiving!"   

Yep, hornswaggled, we eat (or should I say over -eat) all of the same foods and many people watch the football games. Turkey,stuffing, ham, mashed pottoes, and too many salads, vegetables and desserts to name. Add in coffee, tea and assorted beverages, and there you have it.

I have celebrated both versions (with my American cousins) and I think the US tends to attach more meaning to the holiday than we do. It just seems to be a bigger celebration, from what I have seen anyways.

I forgot they had their Thanksgiving earlier than us.

I want to wish all the Canadians on MyLot a Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanks for reminding me, hornswaggled. I have a couple of Canadian friends on other forum and will wish them a Happy Thanksgiving also.

Happy Thanksgiving to my canadian friends. I didn't know it was Thanksgiving for them until I came on here and read it. Our Thanksgiving isn't until next month. I hope everyone that is celebrating today has a nice time.

hi sorry guess I should have reread your discussion as I am just another American wondering why Canada is celebrating thanksgiving now but then realizing that that is their Thanksgiving day,so am taking up your time here,I also wonder just what they eat and
What is traditional for them? we get so stuck in our own traditions we do not always remember others have completely different traditions, and that is one reason I love mylot so much is to learn from other countries.

thank you so much i really appreciate that. i like the time to reflect and be thankful for all that i have. canadian thanksgiving is basically the same as the american one i think, complete with turkey and all.

I hadnt got a clue that Canada had a Thanksgiving day so it just proves that on this great web site we do indeed learn new things we didnt have knowledge of before.

i am not a canadian.. but i also like to know about Canadian Thanksgiving... it sounds like exhanging presents to thank each and every one... however i also want to wish all the canadian friends out there.. happy thanksgiving guys..hope all the wishes come true and god bless you...

Thanks and the turkey was delicious. My understanding is that we borrowed the concept of Thanksgiving Day from our more southerly brothers. The reason we keep it earlier is because of the shorter growing season. Celebrating a bountiful harvest doesn't make a lot of sense if you just might already be locked into an early winter.

hi, i live in china, and many of us do not know about thanks-giving day. i know it because i was majoring english in my college and we learnt the english-spoken festivals. but right now many of us know about the day, and we would send a text message to friends, falimilies and lover. that's the way we spend the day, never a turkey:)

FOOD? Yippee! What's on the menu? And HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL CANADIANS here on the lot!
