[ help and advice needed] what topic to choose for my thesis? |
|
Hello, I'm writing this discussion because I need some serious help therefore ALL opinions are welcome and appreciated.
I need to start working on my thesis for University and I still have a lot of time to go, however the problem is I can't seem to find a decent topic. The subject I have choose n is litterature for children/kids. I contacted one of the professors at University saying I was interested in writing about "fears", thus including writers like Gaiman or J.K. Rowling, movies like those of Tim Burton ...
He said this topic has been choose n way too many times and I should start looking for something different. Now, I decided to ask you because there are teachers here who might have started projects in their classes, so you might suggest me some interesting topic that I might elaborate and work on.
Please If you have anything on your mind don't hesitate to tell me, I would truly appreciate your suggestions.
Thanks:)

1. Tiamjr (293) | 3 months ago | Well when I was doing a project relationg to science communication I read a briefly about how fictional and factual literature may aid learning in science. There are quite a few fictional science stories available which aim to teach children more about science. I think there is a fictional series of children's books about Eistien which aid children in learning physics. I don't know if this provides you with any help?

Tiamjr (293) | 3 months ago | It refers to these books in relation to Piagets cognitive developmental theory, so they might be good for discussing in regards to education pedagogy.

Your mentor could probably say that previous thesis writers have delved on this. But the studies could not have been exhausted. For example, had a thesis been made about the readers of the series. My daughters, todate, are still reading the books in the bathroom. Perhaps you can make a profile of readers with, say, a hundred respondents. With your profile, you must also inject in your study the effect of this novels to your respondents. Second, if you are studying about rhymes as literature for preschoolers, perhaps you can work on the violence children's rhymes entail such as in Rock-a-bye baby on the tree top - the baby is dead? or Algee met a bear - Algee was devoured by the bear! We can never underestimate the imagination and understanding of the children.
