What's the use of your landline phone? |
|
Our landline phone is rarely used. Maybe only twice a month when my aunt currently on the other side of the world will call us. We had this connection because it's a requirement to have an internet dsl connection. So far for almost five years that's the only known use of our landline phone. How about you?

shadow41 (909) | 3 months ago | Oh.. Good to hear that your landline serves you well. I'm communicating with my friends and family through our cellphones. I really like to have an alternative internet connection that is faster than dsl that doesn't need a landline connection. I want to get rid of our landline. Anyway thanks for dropping by. Happy myLotting to you.:)

2. Binthu (3333) | 3 months ago | Hi Shadow,
YES you are right, most of the peoples would always prefer to use the cellphone or mobile phone instead of a landlines, due to many reasons. Because of the price and convenience we are liked to use only the cellphone instead of a landlines phone. But some peoples still interested to use the landlines particularly when you want to get the Internet connection you must have the facility of Landlines otherwise there is not possible to have the internet connection. By using this types of landlines would cost us more when the bills come to end of the each months. So better to have the connection and keep to use for the purpose of only incoming, instead of outgoing, which would save many more bucks in the bills.
Have a nice day.

|
shadow41 (909) | 3 months ago | Yes you right Binthu. As I said we seldom receive incoming calls. Maybe twice a month. That's the least or most. And we don't have outgoing calls from it. We have our cellphones and it's much cheaper.. Thanks for sharing your opinion on this. Happy earning to you.:)

3. maximax8 (10754) | 3 months ago | I use my laptop most of all. Its connection requires a phone line. I read an advert for broadband Internet without a home phone line. I know mobile broadband doesn't need a home phone either. I use my home phone which is a land line for phone calls. I do need to phone people and I get people calling me.

shadow41 (909) | 3 months ago | Oh I can see that your landline connection is busy.:) Not like mine. haha. I like to phone people using it. Problem is I don't have people to contact with it. lol. Most of my friends prefer mobile phones than landline. They prefer text than phone calls. I prefer phone calls over text but I can't blame them though. Text is a lot cheaper. Thanks for dropping by maximax8.:)

4. calai618 (845) | 3 months ago | we have 2 landlines and the other one is for my father's clients..the new one came with our broadband internet connection and it's free of charge. we use it to call anywhere (local numbers) and even to the province where my relatives are. now we can talk on the phone forever without wworrying about the bill at all unlike before when we used to pay a lot just for a couple of minutes of talk..if not for the free calls, we wouldn't have chosen that telephone line because there are a lot more reliable and effiecient broadband companies around

|
|
shadow41 (909) | 3 months ago | Good to hear you use your landline a lot. In here local phone calls are also free but I got nobody to call. I'm in a province right now and for the moment this dsl connection that requires landline is our only choice. No other reliable mobile broadband around aside from it. Ahg.. Anyway thanks for sharing.:)

5. oindy54 (369) | 3 months ago | Well not only for an internet connection but my landline is an integral part of my home since even with cellphones around,we use it to make calls within the same subscriber network as it is cheaper than making the same calls from my cellphone network that I use.
| |
| |
|
|
shadow41 (909) | 3 months ago | Oh I like that idea also. I really prefer phone calls than text. And not only landline calls are cheaper than those mobile rates, it's also free when it's just a local call. But my friends don't have landlines. It's hard to be alone.:)

7. Gongfuboy (130) | 3 months ago | Youngsters would rather use their convenient mobile phones than the lanline phone, because they have formed the habbit contacting friends through mobile phones, even when they are at home, they will phone others up with mobile phones spontaneously. However, my parents don't think the same way with me, when they are at home, they always use the landline phone to talk with their colleagues, maybe they still remain a deep feeling for the landline phone, after all, they are getting along with the landline phone in the time when the mobile phones were still in the cradle.

shadow41 (909) | 3 months ago | Good point. Landlines seems to be of a good use by some parents or people who are older. But here my parents also use mobile phones. Haha. It's what they like and love to use. They love mobiles. Easy to carry anytime anywhere.:) Thank you for sharing.:)

8. DCLehnsherr (508) | 3 months ago | Hi Shadow,
Our landline is actually used a fair amount, though not by me lol. My brother and father both use it to contact their girlfriends, and then my brother also uses it to ring our mother as well. If we are ever going to visit any of our grandparents we use the landline to call ahead since our grandparents don't usually have their mobile phone on and don't use the Internet. On a personal level I don't use the landline because I don't like using phones full stop, so if I can get away with it then I like to do things by e-mail, or if that is not possible, then by text message with the phone as the last resort. Away from family, the people trying to sell us stuff always call on the landline even if we never answer. So all in all it is most definitely used a fair amount here, as are the mobiles of the people mentioned too.
I find it amazing that the landline in your house is never used, I can't imagine that in this house . Is it freeing to be able to ignore it, and what do you use instead? I am just curious so you don't have to answer if you don't want
All the best, Dranz

shadow41 (909) | 3 months ago | Hi there DCLehnsherr(Dranz whew) I'm using my cellphone and internet(email or chat)in communicating. Our landline is really not much of a use for us. Nobody calls us through it except for my aunt. Not even a misguided or wrong call. haha. It's just a space consumer here and money waster. I would really love to get rid of it if not for our internet connection. Thank you so much for sharing.:)

9. LovingLife139 (519) | 3 months ago | The landline is the only phone I have, since cell phones are annoying and always felt like a violation of my privacy. I was out, which meant I didn't want to talk to people I wasn't with!
My husband has a cell phone, but he also bikes to and from work and actually likes phones unlike me. His cell phone can come in use when we're out together. But the landline is my phone...if people call, they can leave a message. If they won't stop calling, you can unplug it and enjoy the silence of your home. I love it. I also work at home part time for a charity which requires the use of a landline, so I use it for that as well.

10. neelianoscet (2084) | 3 months ago | I uses my landline which is a prepaid types to call my local neighbors and to make a long distance call to relatives only once or twice a month and i spend at least $5 on it. Though never call frequently as the phone is mostly a receiving phone and nothing to call unless it is a sort of emergency calls. So far it is a lot of savings while the expenses is mostly traces on the monthly internet bills, water and light which cost me $ 35 to pay.

shadow41 (909) | 3 months ago | Well a prepaid landline can really save us a lot. It's a way of controlling our phone usage. Thanks for sharing neelianoscet. Happy myLotting to you.:)
