Right now, if YOU have the chance to go to another country, WHICH ONE??? |
|
The last few days talking with people here, I got to thinking that some may just want to make a change and some are just so happy to be where they were.
BUT YOU!! Where you do want to be if you have that chance,, the offer is on the table NOW! Where do you want to visit or live?? and why, may I ask?

2. catdla1 (2630) | 2 months ago | Oh that's a hard question! There are so many choices. How about if we make a list, and then live for one year in each place? I like mountains and cooler climates so any mountainous country would be nice...Switzerland, Sweden, etc. I also love the sounds and smells of the ocean, so Scotland, Ireland and Norway would be good too. Or, if we're limited to one choice perhaps I'd pick a country like Chile, which has a little of everything depending on where you were at the time. Where would you like to live and why? Hahaha..what we need to set up is a myLot timeshare, wouldn't that be cool?

fjaril (4226) | 2 months ago | catdla! Hi there! Your idea sounds great doesn't it? Maybe one day I could actually retire and live the dreams.mmmm.
But, in actuality, I am very near the sea, and live on a mountain overlooking fantastic views of water and forest and the sea, old castle remains and deer and moose abound in the vicinity and temperatures that seldom make me sweat and sunrises and sunsets that I photograph often, I never can get enough.
Sailing was fantastic while we had the boat but the ferries to Denmark and Germany are a treat and very relaxing indeed. I am near enough to my homeland that I could even ferry over there although an hour flight might be the way as long as I still work.
I truly feel I am home here where I want to be. But you know what? I haven't been to Norway but I know it is beautiful there and so is Ireland and Switzerland where I also have been. Good choices you made. I am in agreement with your reasons, yes!

catdla1 (2630) | 2 months ago | You better be very careful of your descriptions. Otherwise you might wake up one morning to a LOT of company. Or, should I say to a MYLOT of company? LOL. I'd love to see more pictures of your area, it sounds really beautiful. Will you be posting more in your progile?

fjaril (4226) | 2 months ago | A grand idea, dear catla.. I shall look into that. Meanwhile,, you should know that my avatar.. the sunset behind the evergreens is directly behind my home..Do you see why I am so fortunate?
Thanks for dropping by.. if you get any closer to my home, good idea to call first.. I have a habit of scaring people off my land when I am in a mood..lol

3. tutul0045 (1257) | 2 months ago | Hi fj, Hmm its a question which many would like to answer. What i can say though is Iam quite content here in India. I have all the things needed and i want to develop my own country rather than serving a foreign one. Though i would say I like to travel. I like going to new places and also c new cultures and new people. If u ask me I would like to see Germany. I have heard its a beautiful country and also would love to climb Eiffel tower, so france is also in my list too. Cheers, Tutul

fjaril (4226) | 2 months ago | hallo tutul! Nice to see you here! I think you have made a wise decision.. I have been to France and to Germany.. I can honestly say it was a wonderful experience; the landscape, the castles, just to mention a couple of beautiful sites. Staying in your own country is also a good choice, especially if you know that to uproot and go to where you feel it is very different, takes much time for adjustment before feeling that you belong.. But.. that was my experience. I am now home where I should be.

4. Simon1223 (276) | 2 months ago | Though I'm not totally satisfied with my current life, I still choose to live here. Every country has its advantages and disadvantages. If I have the chance to live in another country, maybe I will be content with some fields, but it's inevitable that new troubles may occur, especially when the culture of this country is quite different from that of my hometown. So I may not get accustomed to the new life. I guess that most people would prefer to live in their own country if the situation there is not too bad.

fjaril (4226) | 2 months ago | What a wise man you are to have thought this through so carefully and honestly. I know the trauma of leaving behind a country you love and the people and friends and starting again in another one and the difficulties and disappointments. I am glad I am where I am and have no desire to live elsewhere either. Thanks, Simon from China, for visiting here. Nice to meet you!

fjaril (4226) | 2 months ago | I don't know about the temperatures in Greece or where you lived before, but the temperatures in Sweden compare with southern Canada, Holland, Germany, the UK, Poland.. and many others. Then there are warmer countries that I could not stay in because of the warm temperatures, so I suppose it is all relative. If you like 40 in the summer, then NO..Sweden is NOT the place to be.
Dear Thea.. I will be serious too. I don't know if you have a real personal reason for going to Poland and seeing the camps. I hope one day you will make that visit.
I haven't made it because I believe it all happened and have seen so much film footage and read so much actual accounts from people who endured it.. I am sorry, but I cannot go because the pain and agony I feel would be too much to endure. I cannot ever begin to condone or accept in my being the horrendous treatment of man against man.
There .. it is said. Let's just have a silent hug and just be kind to the next person we meet here.. shall we?

6. Hatley (20421) | 2 months ago | fjaril hi hatley here well I would love to visit Ireland and track down the history of my irish gr gr grandfather but would want to come back and have enough money to once more live in Tustin Ca about ten miles from Garden Grove Ca. I was so happy there until my live fell apart 'and now I am here instead. Gold Crest is okay but I still would love to once more be in my own apartment doing my own cooking and mylotting without roommates or other stuff.
gardenGrove ca. I was happy there until mylife fell apart.

fjaril (4226) | 2 months ago | Dear Hatley.. a giant burp happened, it appears.
But I certainly know what you said and meant so we will let the burp go unnoticed, shall we?
I well understand why you would like to go back. Isn't it hard to give up how it was and how we had it? I know the feeling well.
We are creatures of habit and most of us don't ask for much, except to have what we like best. It takes alot of time to get these thought out of our heads.. or do we really ever? Maybe they just dwindle a wee bit with time.
Maybe a trip to Ireland is exactly what you need! Have a feel of the ancestral landscape and homeland.. wouldn't THAT be nice!!

7. cloudwatcher (3289) | 2 months ago | Fjaril, I am perfectly happy living where I am, doing what I do and really I would not want a permanent change. I do admit that every summer I "decide" to move to a climate with no humidity, but I would never actually move.
Now regards a holiday. Well, I am too busy for a holiday. I wouldn't want to give up doing what I do just to have a holiday, but assuming I would be willing to take a couple of weeks off, where would I go?
Well, outback Australia has always been a drawcard for me. For many years I imagined travelling through the outback with another couple (wouldn't want to do that just the two of us) but the man in the other couple died, so the dream died too. Now, I think I might be too old to really enjoy it the way I would like to and I know my husband wouldn't enjoy it now.
So ..... I don't want to return to England again now that my brother and sister are no longer there. I loved Heidelberg, Scotland was delightful, I loved the mountains in Switzerland - but I have no desire to return there. Norway and Sweden have unique attractions, so that could be on the list. There is ONE place I would love to visit - well, not exactly visit, but fly over. I believe the flights over Antarctica are amazing, so I think that would be top of my list for something to do.
Our holidays have always been to VISIT PEOPLE. Sure, England had charms and I needed to return to my homeland, but the attraction was my family there - and so it has been with all our holidays.
That said, I now have friends I would like to meet in Sweden, England, Scotland, America, Canada, Philippines, South Africa, Belgium . . . . . If only we could all meet in one place!
