Window coverings

I agree with you on this one. Blinds are difficult to clean. I prefer curtains because they give a personal touch to the home. I associate blinds with offices and thus, having them in my home would make me feel like I am in a formal environment such as an office. With regard to the light, I use thick, lined curtains to block the light, especially in our bedroom.

I have mini blinds that came with the house. I prefer the old "Venetian Blinds" with the wider slats but as I didn't have to pay anything for them, they're fine with me!

When I could, I took advantage of a sale on lace curtains at a cost of $4 per window! I did all my windows that way and they afford me privacy and let in a lot of light. I keep the blinds pulled all the way up in order to get the most light. It's ideal for me--light and privacy!

Hi snuggle bunnies, I have no need of blinds or curtains as I have shutters. I don't always shut the shutters as sometimes it's nice to be able to see out but shutters work best against the elements. They also have vents to provide ventilation which unfortunately also allow things in like mosquitoes and green smelly bugs, but I don't need to wash them.

I hate blinds, besides, my sister's allergist said they weren't good for her allergies - and this was when she was 3 yrs old - that was almost 50 yrs ago

I have a lot of blinds in my house... they were here when we moved in. They break really easily though. The kids bend them to look through and you can't bend them back. The cats bend them too, or sleep against them. I've had quite a few just split and break from the bending and stuff. Plus there's the worry with the cords around the kids and cats!

I prefer curtains.. except in this house the kids tend to tear them down too!! Just can't win.

i have never used blinds for the house. i have always curtains for our windows. i like to use curtains because it is cheaper for me as i sew them myself. i just buy some cloths that are sold on sale or discounts. i can save doing it myself. no problem with cleaning the curtains as i can easily use the washing machine. no problem with letting in a lot of light into the house, i can easily tie the curtains up.

it really depends on where the window is.
blinds i just throw in the tub and hose off after they've soaked-it's much easier.

I think I would rather have curtains. That is if I had some really good windows. You know, ones that don't have calk half on and half off...Can you tell I live in an apartment? And that means that of course I have blinds. They don't bother me too much. They are clean and not broken or missing any slats. So I'm okay with them.
