I'm working on three right now, too. Well, one is knitted and I just finished all but putting it together. It's made of many diamond-shaped sections because I have a diamond type motif in my living room and this one is for the back of the sofa, well, to be used whenever necessary but will be put on the back of the sofa when not used. It's my own design, too! I've written down the steps and plan to sell the pattern.
Hmmm, actually I'm working on three crocheted blankets right now. The knitted one doesn't count with these. I guess you and I are alike and we get bored of one and start another, then another, then go back to work on the first and second ones? That's me to a 'T'.
One of mine is going to be king-sized, too. It's almost finished.
I knitted everyone a sweater one year for Christmas. It took months to do but the effort was worth it. Everyone loved their sweaters and even wore them! LOL
Years ago, I crocheted a blanket that had a pineapple motif. It was lovely! Actually, I believe it is in my other house right now. It doesn't go with the color scheme of the house I'm living in right now so it's better off down there. It is blue. I'm now fond of using Earth tones like green, orange, cream, browns, those kinds.
I knit or crochet while watching TV. Well, I kinda listen to the TV while I'm working with my hands, looking up every now and then. I'm not really a huge TV fan but do like it on if there's a good movie or an especially funny sitcom. @BarBaraPrz (51811)

I learned to knit as a child.
I've only knitted three blankets, though: the first one in large squares that I sewed together; the second one in smaller squares, each edged with a crochet border then sewed together; and the third one knitted all in one piece, using various yarns and stitches, to make a "crazy quilt" sort of blanket.

Hi BarBara. That second blanket you mentioned sounds really pretty, the one with the squares with crocheted edges sewn together. I never would have thought of that. You don't happen to have a photograph, do you?

I have the stuff to crochet, and I've even started projects before, but I'm really bad with tension. I've started discussions on crocheting and have thought about starting more. I think I need a Q hook to make an afghan though, or does it matter? I'd love to perfect granny squares, and do it like that!

Okay, that's good to know. I wasn't sure if it'd make a difference, I've seen patterns that call for smaller hooks then the Q hook. I guess the Q hook just makes the project go fater, and is designed for certain types of stitches?

It really dosen't matter as long as you feel the tension is ok that's all that's counts. If you feel you should get Q hook then get one I never got one.

I would like to make a blanket but it just takes so much time and so much yarn too! When I buy yarn I usually get two or three balls of something at a time and buying enough yarn to do a full blanket would be like buying enough to do a dress and tat can get expensive.

I agree with you it can cost allot of money I just pick up wool that's on sell and that's how I do it and then I just make a scarf or a blanket it always ends up a blanket.

I can't crochet but can knit. I've knitted afghans for our kids and grandkids. Most were full size meaning they would cover a twin size bed or crib. Guess I've made 5 or 6 over the years. Didn't make one for myself so this might be a new project I can start on soon to keep my body warm in the winter. I am rather slow because knitting makes me sleepy. Sounds crazy but guess I get so relaxed. I do have all kinds of leftover yarn from making other projects and it might be fun to put them all in an afghan. Doubt anyone will see it so I can keep it hidden if it turns out awful.
Have always heard crocheting is much easier than knitting. Would have to watch a video or get an instruction booklet to learn.

I used to crochet all the time.My nan and my mum also used to crochet and they are the ones that taught me.I have never been able to start the crochet blanket off as it never looks right so i use to get a friends mum to do that.I made two kingsized bed blankets one was for a Christmas present for an old lady and the other was for a cats home.I can not crochet to a pattern though. We used to undo knitted jumpers and use the wool to make the blankets as well as buy it,those were happier days. Thanks for reminding me of nice times.Happy Mylotting.
