Ever Have Those Lazy Exercise Weeks?

I have been exercising 5 to 6 hours a week lately. Yet this week I have barely exercised for one hour and the week is almost over! To be fair to myself, I did just do a 26.2 mile bike tour. But still! What is wrong with me?
Tomorrow I'm going to train with my friend since she's doing her first 5K soon so I need to get out there and help motivate her. But aside from obligations to other people I have not been exercising this week.

If you just did the 26 mile bike ride...your body needs a break unless you are really in training for something bigger (my husband is training for a century ride).
He rides 25-30 miles 1 or 2 days a week ... a few 10 miles rides and a day of once or twice.
He is still using a mountain bike to do this since we can't afford a new road bike for the abuse he puts it through.
In motivating your friend, you will probably motivate yourself. Now if you could motivate me I would be impressed.

I know I need a bit of a break, but I just can't believe how much of a break I've taken. I guess next week will be better.
I would love to do a century ride. The one coming up that I want to do is in November though and I know I won't be ready for that. Plus I've got my first 10K in November.
I'm glad to hear others do still use mountain bikes! I like my mountain bike actually. It's just other people who make fun of it. I had a road bike before, a used one that I got for fairly cheap, but it was too tall for me so that wasn't fun. I'm thinking I'll stick with my mountain bike for quite awhile unless I get really serious or something. Now you make me want to do a century! I'm amazed you aren't motivated by your husband... just your telling me about him makes me want to get back out there and ride!

Aw, that is horrible. I hope he is doing much better now.
You'd be surprised, you could probably get somewhat in shape in just a few months. Although, it can be hard to train with someone who isn't as in shape, but it can be done. My brother is in way better shape than me with cycling, but when we train together he will either take me on a "short" ride as his warm up, or he will go to a loop course where he can just go ahead. And I'm helping a friend to train for her first 5K and I have to do the same thing, pick a loop course. Although, when I first started training I found someone at the same level as me and I really liked that. Maybe I'll speed up eventually and then have a training partner for non loop courses.

My husband son was riding his bike last October in Wichita falls Texas, when he got hit be a vehicle and left on the road today. This ride is part of the healing process for my husband. I am doing everything I can to see that he can ride the century ride in Wichita Falls. I am there for his support.
I don't have a bike. And I am not really sure if I could began to ride and keep up with him. I would be a hindrance to his training.
I have a t-shirt that says unathletic department ...it is true. I am an accident waiting to happen. I am a total klutz.

You are just going through a lull. That's okay. When you are ready to really train you will. You love running too much to just stop.

Well, today I went out and did 4 continuous miles. So that was cool. But then my friend who was supposed to do 2 today only did a half mile. I guess I didn't realize this course had a small hill in it, which she wasn't used to. I wasn't thrilled about the hill either, but I probably needed it. She says she is going to try again, same course, next week, two miles.

I am afraid of that happening to me. I could just stop for awhile, then for a longer while... until finally I don't even want to exercise and then I'll be out of shape all over again and have to start at the top. Hopefully that thought keeps me out there getting into shape.
Maybe you should fun some type of fun exercise to mix things up?

It happens to a lot of people who exercise regularly. Sometimes I am lazy to jog for a week but I will promise myself to work more next week. Dont force too much on yourself to exercise 5 to 6 hrs. or it will not be fun at all. Sometimes we need breaks in between .

I think I figured out that part of why I was exercising that much, was that I was training for a big event. When I'm not training for something, I'm not as motivated. Right now I'm training for some shorter events. A 5K this weekend and then a 10K next month. And then I'll probably take two months off and then do a half marathon after that.
But right now, I'm only exercising like 2 to 3 hours a week.
