 This is a pretty awesome story.
" In the first procedure of its kind, doctors at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center replaced a 14-year-old boy's missing cheekbones—in part by repurposing stem cells from his own body."
This type of stem cell growth won't work for everythingwe need stem cells for, but it's a really cool application that could save a lot of lives, or at least change a lot of lives for the better.

2.  dorannmwin (2421) | 3 months ago |  The issue of stem cell research in its original form was something that really bothered me. However, now that they have found other ways to harvest stem cells, I would be the first person in line to donate some of mine. LOL!! When my children were born the thought of perserving their stem cells was not something that I even considered doing because I thought the research that had been done to develop the technologies surrounding stem cells was not exactly ethical. Now, however, I'm glad to see that scientists are seeking out other sources of stem cells.

This reminds me of a discussion awhile back in which the person asked if he was horribly injured with his intestines sticking out how would I end his life, well I replied, since I have spent most of my life in the medical field, I would not kill him, but cover his intestines with a damp cloth and dial 911 and see he was taken to the Emergency room and made whole Again. we can now do things like that so why would I want to end someones life? | |
