Do you take time to read up on your next vacation locale? |
|
How much preparation do you make when your next vacation to an exotic place is coming up in 2 to 3 weeks? Do you at least check the weather? Or do you buy a Lonely Planet or Fodors to study up on the place?

1. involved62 (631) | 2 months ago | We actually divide the work between my husband and me. He does all the research and reading. He buys the books, travel guides and the map (especially if we are doing a road trip) way in advance, sometimes up to a year in anticipation. By the time, we actually have the vacation, our travel materials are already outdated. I, on the other hand, make all the inquiries, price comparisons and eventually, reservations and payment.

TremendousMachine (324) | 1 month ago | Yes, weather will ultimately determine what you pack for your trip. That's why more weather channels or sites should consider 10 day forecasts.

3. maximax8 (10426) | 1 month ago | I am really keen on traveling so I already have some ideas for future trips that I will do. I book a flight after I have checked the likely weather and then a few months before I go I borrow some travel guides about my destination from my local library. I love to read an up to date Lonely Planet book. I refer to the city maps in those and the accommodation listings. I am an independent traveler.

TremendousMachine (324) | 1 month ago | It's good that you do your homework before going on a trip. Do you use online or offline methods in collecting your information? Do you ever use Google Maps or Street View if it is available?

BBaller (173) | 1 month ago | Doing prior research gives you a better idea on what to do. I also bring my laptop with so you can have more alternative when you get there. Most cities have enough hotspots that you can surf the net while you are having a cup of coffee.

TremendousMachine (324) | 1 month ago | Yes, I've been bringing my laptop on trips but on my most recent trip I took my netbook. It was very convenient and I didn't worry too much about it. Just dumped the netbook into my bag and off I went.

| 5. lilly_jasmine (46) | 1 month ago | we first try to know about the climate over there and later about the type of food that is available there.if we are going with kids we have to make some extra arrangements for them.we have to make arrangements for kids like the food items they eat, indoor games that they can play while travelling without getting bore.we can also carry some music album cd's with them so that we can enjoy music in our journey and we can enjoy our journey also.what are the arrangements that you will do for your holiday trip?

TremendousMachine (324) | 1 month ago | Do you find you're using online or offline methods more when researching your future trips? Myself, I'm using the internet to surf weather sites, traveller-theme blogs, etc. more than I use travel guides. I used the Fodors the Lonely Planets extensively before, but not now. I guess travelling with kids can sometimes be a challenge but it's worth it when you see them get excited about their new experiences.

TremendousMachine (324) | 1 month ago | It's good to have friends to do all the planning for you, but what happens if they go to places or do things that you don't like to do?
