I got my trial contacts! |
|
I was so looking forward to my new soft contacts... I got my trials today, and Cripes! I had so much trouble getting them in and out. I tried and tried to get them in and finally I got them in... then I had a dickens of a time getting them out. I tried and tried and poked myself in the eye a few times trying to get them out... my left eye is really sore from trying so much to get them out. I did get them out once at Walmart and then back in. Then I wore them for 6 hours as I was instructed to.. and I couldn't get them out when it was time. I tried and tried and got so anxious over it.. I started crying over it.
My daughter decided to help me.. she washed her hands really good and she got them out really easy for me. I can't see them because they are clear. When I had hard lenses, they were easy to pop in and out.. I could do it without a mirror.. but I wanted soft ones this time, because I have lost hard ones before.. and soft ones are not as easy to pop out... boy howdy! that's the truth! I think I will get those suction cup thingies to get them out with the next time I get to the drug store...
Does anyone have trouble getting their soft lenses out? Did you have to get used to them? How long did it take you to get used to putting them on and taking them off?
It's going to be crazy to always have to have someone else take them out for me. I tried to do it as they showed me to, but i just can't do it. Do you have an easy way to take out your soft lenses? I had no idea that it would be so different from the hard lenses.. those are easy to take out.

| 1. vividdawn (31) | 2 months ago | My first contacts were soft, and I've stuck with them. I never had trouble getting them in, but getting them out seems rather difficult. Usually I take two fingertips (index and middle) and sort of bring the edges together and gently pinch the contact so it folds vertically. That seems to be about the only way I can do it. There's suction cups to take them out with? I'll have to look for, and try, that!

OreoCookie3 (18583) | 2 months ago | Hi Vividdawn... I found out I am not good at this at all... I had no trouble with the rigid (RGPs)... but they are so expensive when you lose one.. so I wanted to get the soft that are disposable...and i am really having problems. I should try the pinching with the middle and index fingers... My right eye feels so sore from all the poking trying to get the contact off... It's bad when you got to have someone else take them off your eyes for you.. at least for me. I have to learn this.

| vividdawn (31) | 2 months ago | I've heard you can slide them to the corner of your eye and they'll automatically come out...but that never worked for me. Maybe that was for the hard ones, instead?

2. mtdewgurl74 (10311) | 2 months ago | I've never had the pleasure of being able to get contacts soft or hard ones. I have wanted them especially when I was going to school because kids can be cruel..But sounds like it could cause bad eye irritation if your not really careful and end up with a eye infection. If I was You yeah the little suction thing would be best. Less hassle for sure for you and your eye. You were only able to wear them 6 hours? My sister in law wore hers all day..maybe she had different kind but hers was the soft ones. She got a trial pair. But she went back to her regular glasses..well I hope things work out for you.

OreoCookie3 (18583) | 2 months ago | Yeah, I see good Grandmaof2... except i have to wear OTC reading glasses for close up reading... I have too much astigmatism to get bifocal lenses... and I can't stand the one contact lens for reading and one for distance... it feels so weird.. I had them before... so I just keep reading glasses nearby for close up... but watching TV is perfect and seeing distance is perfect. For my computer work I use my reading glasses. The doc said to get x2.75 and I couldn't find any .. so I got x2.00 and they are fine for what I need.

5. thea09 (4502) | 2 months ago | Hi Oreo, sorry to hear you're struggling so much with them but better to begin having a hard time getting them out than to have them popping out all over the place such as in the middle of the street, yes that happened to me, with my friend on the floor looking for it as you'll know it's quite difficult to see properly with one in and one out, whilst I tried to get people to walk round the area.
I started with gas permeables which were the ones that would pop out at will and progressed to soft ones, then gave them up for a while, when I went back to them I had difficulties getting them in so in the end just gave up completley.

6. EvrWonder (1140) | 2 months ago | Hi Oreo; Sorry to hear of the trouble you've been having getting your new soft contact lenses out! I can imagine the difficulty. I don't wear contacts but wish I did. Sometimes. I don't wear my glasses often, only when I want to watch T.V. or when I am driving at night. Glasses really bother me. I think the suction cups thingies would be a good idea for you. Until then maybe start trying to get them out before the six hours is up.. Your daughter sounds very helpful! You will have it mastered in no time. Practice makes perfect and congratulations on the upgrade! Cheers.

7. paula27661 (5367) | 2 months ago | I’ve never worn hard contact lenses. I have soft disposable ones; you wear them for two weeks and then throw them away. I have been wearing them for years and I have no trouble touching my eyeball but they did take some getting used to! When I first got them I had to get up half an hour early in the morning so I could get to work on time. You will get used to them, don’t give up; I still need a mirror for mine.
To take them out I just rub my eye and they come out or you could try putting your head in water in the basin but that's not too practical!

9. puddytatt (841) | 2 months ago | oooh be careful oreo,if you use a suction cup you may suck your eye out, LOL, no seriously, i hate contacts of any kind, i prefer to wear my specs because i can just put them on and take them off, i cannot see a thing without them, so i think i am due for an eye test soon, i would love laser eye treatment so i never have to wear specs again, but i could never afford it, i hope your eyes are not too sore, i know what it's like trying to get them critters in and out...good luck with your next try, i hope it gets easier...bless you...
